Great example, just like the guy here that just sold his RR Wraith for $50k more than he bought it for after a couple of years ownership.

These guys are not realizing these profits because these cars are worth more (they would normally be depreciating) this is an inflation driven bubble.

Sellers market that I would personally not be a buyer in.

Tons of general desirable goods simply on long back-orders. "Over-paying" for a car you can get now provides immediate satisfaction. Keeps your mind off the long wait times for everything else :).

The Scud continues to be undervalued. I am not aware of anything that competes at that price point or from a relative value. Great fun to drive, easy to maintain, somewhat scarce, styling aging gracefully, and did I mention its great fun to drive? Way better value than the CS and Speciale.

I would guess that that it only appears like they appreciated rapidly. The good ones were accumulated sub 200. I considered buying a second one just because I know how good they are. There are limited holders chasing appreciation because the prices have been flat for so long. The stragglers left on the market have traded hands and now there's a void because us owners know what we've got. Given the replacement options there is no way in hell I'd sell mine for 225.

    IMO,

Exactly ......I just bought a new boat and could only get about 11% off msrp when in normal times double that or more is very doable.
However I got all my money back on the sale of the 2 year old boat, including tax and license. So in essence many of the “replacement” item transactions are a wash. You get crazy money on sale or trade in (like trucks...) and pay way more on the new one.
Last truck I got 22% off sticker, now you are lucky to get 8-9%.

Also on the new boats, all 2022 are pretty well spoken for, delivery next year, and the brand I got, Crownline is going up 9% on msrp !
So waiting along with a year of not having may not pan out in the long run.
    Nutty times for sure.

Why, because the 458 is so good? Just curious as to how you think 458's are affecting scud prices. I think 458's are great but I don't love the aesthetics. Not ugly, but definitely view the 430 as aging very well (especially in scuderia form). As a relatively new scud owner, if I had to hazard a guess as to why scud's aren't priced even higher, its because they truly are about as raw as you can get in a street-going car, and that is not for everyone, and definitely not for folks with a "one fun car" stable. Everyone says they love a "raw" or "visceral" driving experience, but those words don't remotely convey the experience of a scud.

Not sure I agree....the 458 is soft, luxurious, and isolating.....did not like driving it at all. The Scuderia is brash, loud, and always itching for a street fight.

I think what has held the Scuderia market back is the relative lack of movement in the CS market. After the CS takes off, the Scuderia will follow.

meh. the 458 is such a different experience...I'd go as far as saying it's like driving a neutered version of a Scuderia/CS. I also get a good chuckle when people describe the Speciale as "raw"...objectively speaking we can all agree that something was lost and something else was gained.

It's not all bad nor all good, mixed bag and makes for a very different driving experience; worthwhile enough to own different eras of cars.

yes 458 does everything a scud does and is very driveable and sounds insane.

It’s not about one trading above the other....as we all know, the CS going forward will always trade higher than a similar condition Scuderia, the point is once the CS puts some distance on the Scuderia price wise, the Scuderia market will be free to start moving up.

Just because it does the same objective things, does not mean it provides the same experience to the driver. At the end of the day how you feel is what should matter. Otherwise many of us may be driving corvetts instead.

2 years ago I was ready to pull the trigger on a 2015 458 with CF buckets. Last of the NA, 9k redline, beautiful looks. Then I drove it. While highly capable, to me it was more numb than my (modified) Aston Martin Vantage. It didnt really have a soul to me and we didn’t connect. All this said I wanted a special and more raw experience. Most buyers do not. I went back to the drawing board posting on this forum for advice, and the Scud was suggested following my specific desires. After a year of searching I found the perfect spec Scud for me. Just sitting in the car provided an experience the 458 cannot. After driving the car I immediatly knew it was for me.

I would stick my neck out and say that the reason is the single clutch F1-box. Even though it works pretty well in the Scud, they are jerky, clunky and many still believe that the clutches wear down instantly. But i believe the 458 is also a factor.

I would disagree on this. I remember when the 458 came out, people started selling their SCUD.
Then those people realized the difference and went back to a scud. I think a 458 is a better car in some way but the experience is not as special imo.
Owned a Spec then i went back to my second scud.

I think that’s the defining factor between the two cars. 458 DCT more user friendly. Daily drivable type feel. Scud more visceral , but beats you up on longer commute type drives, but that’s the feel you want for a weekend driver. Gives a sense of occasion.

Both great cars. For a potential buyer choosing between the two, I’d consider price and looks. Choose the one that looks best to you. 458 is still a bargain compared to a Speciale.

Having said that, the gated manual on my 355 gives me a more rewarding experience than the Scud’s F1. This is just me personally and I have about 7k mi under my belt in the Scud. Alot of it has to do with smoothness, predictability, and control. Knowing what gear I’m in based on feel. Reversing the car at will to park without having to wait for beeps and double-checking the gauge to make sure I am indeed in reverse.

The Scud F1 felt out of this world when I first tried it. It’s quirky but it feels good in the right settings. Gives you the drama you want when you need it and they’re not making them any more. In time, the SF2 will be appreciated much like the recent appreciation for the gated shifter.

just sold a 2014 Ford cmax that booked at $6500 last Oktober and now books at $10,200. I was shocked at the increase. So I made a few extra bucks.

A fun comparison from a Scud owner who is looking to buy a CS. Small channel, but I like their content.
