After Max run away from him in today's qual/sprint race, for the first time in the post-race interview, I saw real worry and even fear in Hamilton's face that this year would not be his 8th WDC. And that maybe there wouldn't be one.

Agreed. He looked shellshocked in the interview, although he tried to put on a brave face for his fans.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Yep. The cars are close, I’d say the Rbr is better and Mercedes isn’t progressing

Depends on track I would say.
Don’t forget the 23 races and for years Mercedes reliability is bulletproof.

Indeed, so far Hamilton took pre pole (?) on Friday and after a better start Verstappen could not drive away from Hamilton who even took the fastest lap.
That doesn’t sound like a faster RBR but more to equal cars.

I wonder what happens if Hamilton has no one in front. If he is able to drIve away from Verstappen or just like yesterday both keep hanging together.

I'd say Max is a faster driver. Look at his gap to Perez.
And his previous gaps to Gasly and Albon.

Bottas shares poles and wins with Lewis. As did Rosberg.

Of course he is faster but to say Lewis shares poles and wins with Lewis (whilst true) doesn’t really imply that his 90% Hamilton

I am not a statistician but we can see how many front row starts and wins that Rosberg / Hamilton shared with Mercedes dominance for example.

Max has been out on his own especially with that shonky handling RB in previous seasons.

I’m not disagreeing with that. I’m saying that Lewis vs teammates is not an equal share. I’m willing to say he beat bottas 80% of the time.
I’m not questioning Max’s talent at all.

They've never had to push the car before. Similar to Vettel trying to extract more from the Ferrari than was available as he tried to outpace LH, we may start to see cracks appear in both the Merc and its driver. Should be an interesting season.

Lewis is resorting back to his Rosberg days.
Plenty of mistakes as there's genuine rivalry.

10 sec penalty was extremely soft for "Causing a collision" in a championship battle.

Really? Lewis's front tyre on Max's rear. Sorry mate, but you're wrong. In racing, it's up to the overtaking driver to make a clean pass, not the other way around.

100% that should have been a minimum stop and go penalty not 10 seconds to his pitstop, was really hoping that Charles had this race.

Léo Turrini on his famous blog just wrote this is comparable to what Senna did to Prost at Suzuka in 1990..
    A disgusting move ..
( Turrini is a long time Hamilton lover for those who doesn’t know ..)

I had that same thought...or Schumi on Hill (or Jacques!) at various points.

also in my mind, it's not a "racing incident" if the contact is hard enough to crack one wheel, and completely remove another...HAM knew what he was doing.

Truth is he has some difficulties when under pressure.
He has no space to overtake and the risk was way too high because of the high speed.
    Lucky again too.
