Agree The brain is at risk either for the long term. If Max lost some capacities for the next six month ( optimistic I would say ..) then the championship is over…
ham's post race: "I was fully alongside Max" Yeah, notsomuch. Max at the hospital. At least David Croft expressed concern. Sir Louis Hamilton? Notsomuch.
What I saw was Verstappen diving at the apex to block Hamilton when he was supposed to leave him room according to the rules.
And should Max have sent Hammy an engraved invitation? Again, it's up to the overtaker to make a clean pass, NOT the other way around.
Interesting that DC and Webber squarely put the blame on Lewis. Especially at that corner at those speeds, if he was alongside his front wheel would not have hit the rear of Max's car. This was definitely on Lewis. Shame the penalty was not a "10 second" stop and go. He got off easy. While I don't agree with Marko on a race suspension, I do believe the penalty during the race in this case was much too light.
IMHO that would warrant a DQ from the championship. The FIA has precendence with such when Schumacher was charged with causing a collision with Jacques V.
Huh? Max was 1.25-1.5 car widths away from the apex...i.e., Hamilton could have moved to avoid contact, which happened on Max's rear wheel, it's worth repeating.
Indeed by this logic Prost should have completely open the door to let Senna pass in Suzuka 1990. It’s even better than that, Prost should have guessed that Senna was going to dive to the apex. Delusional..
And why do you think they wrote that rule in recent years, that says " in a corner, you must leave room for an opponent to overtake, so not to squeeze him on the inside, or drive him out on the outside" . I didn't make that rule, and many drivers have been penalised for not observing it: Leclerc and Perez (twice) recently. IMO Verstappen defended aggressively by closing the door and caused the contact.,. As Hamilton has many detractor on this forum, I don't expect to hear many opinions in his favour here. But for me it was a racing incident, with no blame on either drivers.
If he was alongside, how did his front wing hit Max’s rear tire? Mercedes is obviously feeling pressure and are now resorting to take out the competition tactics in order to get back in the championship race.
You're entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine... which is that it's pointless discussing something with someone who doesn't even really believe what he's saying.
Yup. The evolution of ham's words: Team Radio "I was ahead of him man" Pre Podium "I was fully alongside" Post Podium "I was quite a long way up the inside"
Side by side with Ham's pass on Leclerc shows you're wrong. LH and AH (he's worse) fully deserve their detractors.
It's pretty hard to overtake in an F1 car - especially when the cars are evenly matched and on similar tyres. VER raced hard (there had been some wheel banging and VER had been off the track earlier in the lap) and HAM wasn't going to give way (as he did yesterday in backing off on the outside of Copse) so an accident was going to happen sooner or later. VER on the outside was always likely to come off worse. He'll learn to be a little less aggressive and think of the bigger picture, but he hasn't quite got there yet. You can't rewrite a penalty once it's overcome, but it was a shame for LEC and Ferrari.
It was an almost miracle. If it wasn't for the first lap schlamozzle I doubt if Chuck could have even earned a podium. Cheers to Chuck and the squadra for making if fun. Think how bad they were a year ago. The engine is still quite possibly the worst based on the performance of the Haas and Alfa.
Well said! I think this thread will carry on living another few years after this collision! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have no idea what race you were watching. Verstappen moved once over and then back to give room to Lewis. Lewis was still behind Max going into the corner. It was Verstappen line. Lewis should have backed off.
Senna and MS never backed off. Multiple world champs don't back off. Lewis babied Max in the last few races and has woken up to realize that you fight for championships. Today Lewis woke up, and Max was surprised to find that he's not the only aggressive driver on the track.
I don’t think you were watching the same race as we were. Max had the advantage Lewis should of let him go. I agree that 10 sec penalty was a joke he should be suspended for almost killing a man. I like head to head racing but not when take someone out. Again it’s Lewis and thing will go his way. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
