My new F8 Spider has just arrived in the UK to join my F355 Berlinetta and 488 GTB… blu corsa with crema… I went to Maranello in February 2020 to specify the car at the Atelier, itself a great experience. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you, first impressions are very positive. The same outstanding drive of the 488, more noise and less body flex (none detected) than the doom-sayers would have you believe. Useful updates to the switchgear and operating software, more intuitive. Notice I have stock wheels - I prefer the more open design compared to the forged upgrade wheels. Some carbon, more restrained than I was on my 488 and the upgraded stereo is a revelation. We have an issue in the UK with how to fit front licence plates. Fortunately, a US company carbonio does a drill-less mount so if you live somewhere which requires then, I recommend them.
A few specific custom mods to the seats and door cards. The carbon racing seats as standard have grey panels in the seat and backrest which did not work with the crema leather, so I chose to modify the design to replace them with leather, also adding a blue stripe which is a shade darker than the car. Then on the door cards, I chose to restrict the crema to the arm rests and door pulls. Normally, much more of the door card would have been in crema. Needless to say, this all adds to the expense... It’s all down to personal taste of course which is why I find buying a secondhand Ferrari quite difficult, you’re forced to inherit somebody else’s choices just as someone one day will inherit mine!
Hey Blue. She looks stunning. The colour really pops in the sunlight. Don’t forget to post on PH! Just in time for some summer blasts. Enjoy!
Congrats! Beautiful! Love it! And thanks for sharing your purchase and options reasoning to those of us in the queue. I feel the same way about the naysayers - IMO the F8 Spider is a fantastic car! Affirms my decision - the long wait is worthwhile - hopefully will see mine late this year.
We have unusually good summer weather here this week in the UK and blasting along the backroads with the roof down is a great feel-good factor.
First, a beautiful combination. Second, on my 458 spider I spent a fair amount of money to get interior to look "right." Meaning, making things match/contrast as you have done. At first glance, most people don't realize exactly what I did. They only realize the detail when they can compare it to the standard factory spec. My buddy who swears he is "cheap" (despite owning a Speciale, M5, GT3 Touring, amongst others) says I wasted my money. I never regret spending the extra money. I also have yet to get tired of seeing my car just look like it should. I am confident you will feel the same. Enjoy your car!!! Best Randy
Out of this world gorgeous. Congrats. I'm on a light interior tear with a touring, G63 and F8 spider coming with light interiors. Want some unwanted anal advice? Keep those seats pristine by sitting on two giant white 100% cotton bath towels. Even sweat will mar those seats. When you open and close the doors, use the cubby pocket rim below the door handles - they're black and won't stain. Don't say it. I know I have issues.
Crema is soooo much better in person than pictures due to washout. And a friend with a twenty year old crema interior has demonstrated how durable and how it ages well. Well chosen. Enjoy. Drive it well……
I might do that but wondering what to replace it with. The orders are apparently flooding in for the 296 GTB and I’ve seen it and sat in it but so far it’s not doing it for me. Delivery times in the UK are already out to mid-2023.
Awesome car. I’ve pod a deposit on a red f8 and going to see it next week. Wanted to ask about the front plate. obviously it’s illegal to drive without one but Wanted to ask you guys experience of it. Is it worth the risk not fitting one ? Many thanks guys.
I’ve gone with slightly reduced height stick-on front plate. Stick-ons done properly are legal in UK if full height. Fitted and branded by the fezza dealer from new. No compromise on dynamics and so far no unwanted attention regarding height. Also UK rear Perspex plates need slight cropping to fit neatly in the recess. Image Unavailable, Please Login
