    Hi Everyone,

I was hoping someone can tell me if Testarossas (specifically an 85) have any asbestos components?

I am looking to import one to Australia and our customs are VERY strict on asbestos.

    Many Thanks

    Stewart

There are at least two areas where I found insulation that I couldn't identify. One is sandwiched in the heat shield under the air intake. The same type of insulation is under the heat shields surrounding the precats. I am not sure if it is asbestos, hopefully someone can confirm. But the good news is at least these two areas can be easily removed if needed.

Highly likely Jeff is correct. Many testing labs here in the States can inexpensively test. Bend back the tab on the shield and snag just a bit for the lab. Likely Melbourne is the same. Perhaps ask the seller to do it for you.

    Thanks Guys!

Any idea on the clutch lining, brake pads, heads gasket and manifold gaskets?

    Cheers

    Thanks!

There is an asbestos test and certification you can have done before the car leaves Europe. I gather they believe that.

    Many Thanks

I'd be somewhat concerned that a 1985 TR would have asbestos in all of those components (when it was built). The 1985 TR SPC tends to only have a single part number for those components; whereas, the later TR SPC show that same 1985 TR SPC part number with the description "with asbestos" and then a later part number for the same part with the description "without asbestos". Just an observation about the documentation...

I forgot to mention the original exhaust donuts have asbestos. But this is easily replaced.

    Thanks Everyone,

    This is all great info.

Assuming my purchase goes ahead, I have a company organised in the UK to do the asbestos test of all these things for me.

If any are an issue I will get them rectified in the UK before shipping the car home to Australia.
