I was told by talacrest that the f40 is quite a reasonable car to service. Its when things break that the tears start! I do know that the petrol tank has to be replaced every 10 years at substancial cost.

    Stephen,

The main service interval on a F40 is every 6250 miles / 10000 kms, however if my memory serves me correct it was recommended to have an "inspection" in between services. The service times are very reasonable considering the complexity of the car, for example a 18750 mile / 30000 kms service is a little over 9 hours work, cambelts about 8 hours - engine in, just remove the seats and rear panel and there's the engine.

Best car Ferrari ever made IMHO

Both the 288GTO and F40 had access panels to service the car including cam belts without removing the engine. I suppose they did that so the turbo/intercooler parts would not have to be removed so often.
