Reminded me of an F9F that test fired a 20mm cannon at altitude and then dove down to a lower altitude and overtook the round that impacted the wind shield.

Bob- Must have been two of them, since an F11F Tiger did the same thing.

I'm probably in error as to model number but I know it happened only once.

Bob- You would think it would be hard to run down a cannon shell with 3300 fps muzzle velocity, but they slow down pretty quickly. Would not want to back that pilot in a craps game, or stand next to him in a thunderstorm.

Yes, Taz. I had to explain several times that it was obvious because the shell was slowing down while the F11F was accelerating in a shallow dive. A unique and once in a life time incident.

Bob (both Bobs)- Almost looks like that could be the USAF version C-121.

I think you're correct, the commercials didn't have an astrodome.

Is it just me who has no fondness at all for the Harvard/Texan?? Any other warbird of the era I love to bits but I just find I can’t stand that sonic prop noise.

Best to drown them out with one of these!
