Still no mention of Vettel bringing awareness to his beliefs to F1? Still no criticism of Max's behavior post qualifying? Come on guys, be consistent.
No Mister, "from last to a podium place" is what I wrote. Maybe you didn't watch the race. When Hamilton rejoined the race after his first pit stop, he was in fact LAST of the running cars. He climbed back through the field to finish 3rd at the chequered flag. Maybe you don't appreciate it, but it was a splendid performance.
It still was an outstanding drive, and it's not the first time Hamilton pulls a terrific performance out of the bag when the odds are against him.
Lewis's drive was great BUT 2 Redbulls were taken out and Norris as well on the opening lap. Maybe, Lewis would not have finished P3 if Bottas didn't do a Grosjean 2.0. What was impressive was the defense Alonso gave to Lewis...that lasted about 5 or 6 laps. That was top-notch race-craft by both. In 2016, I've seen Lewis take a 55 grid spot penalty(completely new PU) at Spa which put Lewis dead last. Lewis placed 3rd(???) at the end of the race.....and that was when Lewis did'nt have any competition.....it was expected given the dominance of the car.
put on a clinic on how to drive defensively and was able to hold off the fastest car (on fresh medium tires) in the field for several laps whilst he was on aged hard tires. Insured the win for his teammate. No question Fred was driver of the day.
No Mister, "from FIRST to a podium place" is what I wrote. Hamilton started from pole at the start of the race and again (as only car on the grid) at the restart. The fact that he managed to go from first to last due to stupidity doesn't change that fact a bit.
What does “sell your soul to the devil” mean? Please explain here (or on the F1 P&R thread if need be).
My question is there anyway or race any of you , the legion of non Hamilton fans, would actually be like wow great race by Hamilton and give props? I’m not saying calling him the best or the goat… I mean even I who really disliked Schumacher had to admit that certain of his races (Barcelona 96 comes to mind) were stuff of legend. Nando's defense was impressive indeed. The old fox still masters all his tricks... (not that our "long covid" friend could appreciate this ) The guy who REALLY deserved my respect yesterday was the guy whose family sold their house to allow him to go racing. A guy that spent sleepless nights knowing all too well that, if he didn't win, that would be the end of his racing career. A guy whose family had to search the other teams' bins hoping to find some still useable spare parts... A guy that didn't spend his first money earned on some "gangsta rapper" accessories, but on a house for his family. That guy is Esteban Ocon.
Not a Hamilton fan at all. But I gotta admit his drive yesterday was pretty epic. From last to 3rd. Pretty amazing stuff when you consider the battles he had with Mick and Alonso.

Speaking of being consistent. Races start on lap 1, not at the lowest position held during a race. Not to mention on restart LH was the only driver on the grid (and still finished 3rd If you can't change the facts massage the narrative. Regarding the legend, paradoxically, despite all of his WDC's and ample racecraft, LH's legacy may end up being precisely what he thought he "wanted" it to be. Hopefully the competition helps him refocus on what matters, and relax the ego gymnastics masquerading as altruistic bling.
Yes. Otherwise everytime a race leader pits first we'll have to celebrate when they "amazingly" wind up out in front again. As for his decision not to change tyres pre-restart....you're not a hero for (partially) overcoming problems you create.
Also, how many times has Vettel charged through the field after doing something boneheaded? Big deal. It’s to be expected with a top tier car. Good job salvaging some points and little more.
Hard to believe, but I don't follow Sir Lewis Hamilton on Twitter, etc. I'm just curious, had he mentioned anything about "long covid" prior to the Hungarian GP ? Also, I may need to expand my vernacular. Max is still suffering the effects of long bottas Charles similarly suffering from long stroller
It was certainly a unique circumstance...I'm certain he figured most drivers would follow him in with a couple pitting. There was the forecast for more rain (that didn't happen). But also, I believe Merc didn't want to pit and then get caught up in unsafe releases and tumble down the grid (although they ended up losing 13 places instead of 5-7). Finishing in 3rd (2nd?) wasn't bad all things considered (plus, with Max taking out Bottas it would have been salt in the wound for Ham to win). It had the same effect as the "inverse grid", where Hamilton had to drive his way up the grid versus sailing off into the sunset from P1.
Pretty sure I did just that earlier in this thread. Maybe it was a different one. Hard to keep track.
