Nice $10 car.
ok, here is the estimate: Replace front and rear brakes pads Replace transmission mount Oil change Inspect car Align muffler Check oil pressure light ( working properly appears to be low on oil ) $1800 for the above. Addition: Perform major service due to leaking cam seal $5000 Repair sun visor $185 Replace front lower control bushings and check alignment $ 855 Left inner cv boot seeping $1055 So we are really looking at $9k plus.
Everything needs to be moved to access the transmission mount that in fact was shot to hell. Look ma, no brace! Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can watch a video on YouTube of Samcrac doing the clutch on his 360. That transmission mount is not easy, he replaced it at the same time as his clutch.
Ratarossa just published a video yesterday showing his cs driveway clutch change. Much easier to watch. Sam hams it up too much w his step mom digressions and silly Ferrari lemon car suggestions….
Comments on estimate:: Item group 1 $1800- If you are handy and confident you can do all this diy. cam seal - $5000- dep on how bad it’s leaking you can wait until next major service. I’ve found a weeping seal can be cleaned and monitored over next 1000 miles to see if that weeping was accumulated over the first 20 yrs. Sun visor - diy cont arm bushings - diy cv boot - diy
That's how it is my friend. Gotta role with it. By the way congrats on your car, it really looks amazing. You hitting Monterey car week?
True true, just don't have the time. Plus it's at a great shop so looking forward to a job well done.
When I posted I hadn’t seen Scott’s video yet. I agree he is the gold standard for Ferrari DIY videos. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I have been a couple of times. Too me its getting a little crazy all the younger kids and youtuber kids vloging. Yes amazing cars but I rather tinker in my own shop.
When I retire…. This is all I’m going to do…. Play with rebuild restore and maintain my bucket list cars. I hate golf. totally understand getting work done by a good shop….. time vs expense
So around 10k to Keep one of the coolest and exotic cars on the street driving properly for years to come, Since the big ticket items are not parts That need to be replaced on a yearly basis ....Seems like a bargain to me... The issue here a that my indie wasn't picking up items and fixing them and next you know you have a long list of items. But as long as your on top of then and don't let it accumulate then your good. For example I just got a service 4 months ago, he should of mentioned the cv boot or the leak, instead he didn't do the job as he should have and that's the problem with one man indie shops. But the car has been extremely reliable and soon we will get her back on top and now I have a new indie shop to get the job done right.
I agree 100%, you can’t depend on other people to look after your car for you. Just like running your own business, you have to be in the weeds of your business to know what’s truly going on. I’m not saying have to take your car apart every couple months, but put your car on a lift and taking a flashlight around the entire vehicle to look for leaks or other problem areas could save you thousands of dollars down the line. Even if you don’t have an automotive background….. people are willing to teach and show how to inspect your car….. my local hill country Fcar club is full of super helpful people… a village of car nerds. When I was super busy w work in the past I tried to ‘treat myself’ to having others do the work on my cars……., and I was generally disappointed w the work. ive found you pay high prices, have long delays, and get piss poor workmanship…. And generally people today are parts changers and not experts in diagnosis. If you find a quality local mechanic appreciate him.. they are few and far between.
Got the car back and Craig at FastCars did an amazing job. Car feels 100% better. What a difference a new transmission mount will do along with New ball joints and new brake pads. Planning on going back for sure! Strongly recommend them.
I love golf, can't play enough. I also enjoy getting my hands dirty and learning how to repair things. My first 308 came with a mechanic I became friends with who for the price of a timing belt replacement let me do the work under his eye at his shop. Never had a better experience doing anything in life!
