Probably one of the easier ones to get. They aren't as popular as nautilus and aquanaut but I think its a stunning piece. I hadn't worn mine in weeks and put it on for the first time today and forgot how much I love this. I can see them discontinue this and it sky rockets.
This has been my “go to” piece for a while. I like how discrete it is and love the Tapestry dial. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
About two months ago I started a thread looking for a 50th birthday watch. Because I haven’t had to physically go into work, my summer go to watch has been a Seiko diver. I had to go into work today so figured I’d post a pic of my Image Unavailable, Please Login new-to-me DJ, before I put the Seiko back on. Thanks again to Eddie for finding a great watch at a very fair price.
For over 20 years the watches on my wrist have always been Rolexes. Still do love them, and I've thinned the herd down to my one keeper...an 18k 1013 on a Jubilee bracelet. But I have really been wanting something new...in the $500 range...Swiss Made...a name with historical value and that I really liked the looks of...and that someone wouldn't take a chain saw to my arm to get. I rediscovered Hamilton and today got their 40mm Jazzmaster Viewmatic. I find it bigger but not too big. I find the dial handsome and functional. My desire was also to get away from gold and back towards steel. So here it is. Has a deployant clasp, which I'm not nuts about, but I'll give it time to see how it wears on me. First a picture of my Rolex, then the new Hamilton. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually I bought two Hamiltons. The Jazzmaster Viewmatic and also a Khaki Navy...a Submariner knock-off. The Khaki is brand new, discounted down to $487. The Jazzmaster is slightly used and preowned, and that cost me $350. Both with boxes and papers (for what they are worth). The Khaki came with a big fat rubber strap, which I instantly discarded for the leather strap from Crown and Buckle (made in the USA). If I had a stainless Rolex 1018, I probably wouldn't have bought one of the Hamiltons...but the 1018s (in good condition) are going for silly money right now. Anyway...I think the Hamiltons are attractive and very good value for the money. Sorry the pictures aren't better. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Image Unavailable, Please Login A quick story about this watch. I first saw it in an ad in a magazine. I was around 16 years old. I ripped it out and held onto that picture for years. About nine years later and newly married to my HS sweetheart, and on Valentine’s Day, we had hotel reservations to spend the weekend in Maine. Unfortunately, we were experiencing near blizzard conditions and I had a BMW 318IS that was not great in the snow so I didn’t want to go. Wife was adamant so off we went. What a ride. Arrived, went to take a shower and when I came out I jumped into bed with my hands crossed behind my head to find a box under the pillow. Yup, it was the watch. While I was super excited and appreciative, it was not a good financial decision at the time. She has since bought me two additional. I keep dropping hints on the Platona but that’s never going to happen. I do have to say that this watch is still stunning in person and unique. I love wearing it. The DateJust on the Jubilee just about the perfect watch. The right size, accurate, a classic and sturdy movement, and beautiful to look at. Your wife was wise.
I like the color, but it is rather thick. Thise beads are about 7-8mm. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
