Looks like the lower jaw was flattened in the cars 'green' period. Would have been nice to bring it back to its original shape.

Back in 1998 the Ferrari Club of America had their show in Toronto Canada. This 375MM had recently been restored and made an appearance there and was shown by Jon. The show was held on the expansive back lawn at the Ontario Science Center. The restoration was a way of proving that a 'post war' car could win at Pebble Beach.
The early pictures shared by Marcel are amazing to see now, very powerful!

I agree. The flat lower opening just looks strange. The grill was missing in some of the "green" period photos. I assume the grill in the car now is a reproduction. It would have to be replaced or modified if the owner decides to put the correct radius back on the lower radiator opening.

 

From the official PRA document, the 375 MM 0402 AM has a certificate of origin dated March 20, 1954, perhaps it was used at MM with its original bodywork (?).

It should be noted that the mortgage was never extinguished and at the time 2,000,000 lire was a large sum.

 

Question I have as I noticed many years ago how much this 375 rebody looks like the 1955 Mercedes Uhlenhaut coupé with an Italian suit. Who was first based on this 375 MM being completed also in 1955?

0402 AM was originally a 375 MM Spider PF and destined for Luigi Chinetti but he never took delivery and therefore it was sold to Rossellini 21 August 1954. Although the date of the Certificate of Origin is 20 March 1954, the date of the steering box is only 9 July 1954, almost four months later.

I think the Mercedes is a considerably better looking machine.

It has more balanced proportions. The 375 is a touch ungainly from some angles.

Its rear screen a case in point. However I concede beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder...
