An old saying goes: "Everything is for sale, it's just a matter of price."

And when it comes to 458s, it's on the rise...

Greta says icebergs are gone or melting fast - do you believe same? If so, then your statement is accurate.

I think people here know what that analogy means.

One has to assume though that an active seller would list a car somewhere though, especially Ferraris as buyers are SO picky. And with each sale one less is on the market and there may or may not be replacements, especially in this crazy environment.

I keep getting offers on my 458, but what do I replace it with?

    Agreed.

Most desirable years are not 2012-2015…. The most desirable are 2010-2011 because those are the only years with the beautiful crackling and popping of the exhaust with the previous ECU. 2010/2012 458’s are a much more visceral (and pleasurable IMO) experience than the 2012+ because of this.

That doesn't correspond with the 2011 year trailing the average 458 value in the Car Gurus chart in post #18 above by $30k. 2010 would have an even larger discount if that data was available in that chart.

The most desirable year is 2015. The most desirable mileage is low.

I don’t think there is much of a difference between years (except exhaust sound <2012). I’d want a car that consistently did 2-4K miles/year (not a bunch of miles early on and then sat for years) with comprehensive service records.
No interest in garage queens. These are reliable drivers if cared for.

Are Speciale values going up at the same rate as Italians?

The Speciale doesn't do much for me, track insurance is already hard enough to get for my Italia, and that's the only venue where it's a better vehicle IMHO.

    But I feel you.

I’m sitting at 27k miles on my 458. No issues at all except a small crack in the plastic coolant tank that was replaced. This car is a real tank in terms of reliability and is my daily driver. For the next year I expect to add another 15k miles.

Awesome! I’ve reached 14,800 “smiles” in my ‘15 Italia… 6k we’re put on by me in two years. I need to get cracking if I’m going to catch your blistering pace! [emoji2]

    P.S. No issues at all…

    Cheers!

So the 3,800 miles on my car makes it undesirable?

The Italia is pretty darn good up to 8 tenths. And I would trade the slightly better shifts for that sound any day. But luckily Austin has access to some decent back roads, where you can push enough to appreciate the difference. If I lived in say, Miami, a Speciale would only make sense as a ridiculously expensive track car.

That extra 2/10's is meaningful on autobahn or in Alp twisties. Especially the extra downforce / better brakes.

    A nicely-optioned 9k mile 2013 sold last month for 245k USD.
