Hello Everyone, I am working on purchasing an FF and was wondering if the flashing warning light on the right side and the temporary check engine light on the left side is normal? Attached is a video. Thank you in advance. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes normal and it is a good practice not to put the car in gear until the yellow engine light goes out.
Awesome, thank you for the suggestions everyone. I will search for other threads so I can learn more best practices.
It looks like the maintenance is due, or at least was not reset the last time it was done. In both cases, this requires some investigating. You dont want any dodgy maintenance on a Ferrari V12.
The current owner actually has no maintenance records and is getting out of the vehicle after only owning it for 6 months and putting 1k miles on it. Is this a deal killer?
The maintenance records these days are all electronic (at least for current models, I presume FF also?) so lack of (paper) records isn't necessarily an issue. Can the F dealer provide you the electronic records? If so I would carefully check all servicing completed as scheduled (walk away if not) and no material issues flagged in services. Also, why is current owner selling so soon? I would get a Ferrari tech to check for any logged error codes in the car.

I can't speak to the red flashing light, not sure my car has that (2007 F430). The check engine light tho is normal. The car's ECU is going through a checklist of all sensors and systems and when it's complete, about 15 seconds or so after starting, the light will go out if all systems are good.
Maintenance records are only electronic for the work carried out at Ferrari. If anything has been done by an indy, it won't show. I'd say that if the car is not throwing codes during the PPI then that's a good starting point. However, mine was like that when I bought it and the NP warranty was applied and yet 3 months later, the fuel pump went bad on me so you can try to mitigate the downside by having the PPI done but things can still bite you immediately afterwards. At the end of the day, if the car is cheap enough after factoring in a contingency fund for PTU or DCT then the OP should be good to go as they're the biggest single item which you can't really examine. Brakes would be high on my list to inspect as they'll give you a good idea of how the car has been driven and looked after. At the end of the day, these cars are getting on for 5-10 years old. At the youngest end, FFSH is going to be paramount. At the oldest end, condition and history will be paramount. From OP's enquiries, I get the feeling that he's uneasy about this car but can't let it go...
I couldn't get any Ferrari dealer to give me past maintenance records for a used car I was buying. If anyone knows a trick to getting them, please let me know.
I have a Lexus LS460. I can go to the Lexus Drivers website and enter my VIN and get all the dealer service records on my car. Not only that, I can enter any Lexus VIN and get the dealer service records. Recently my cousin was considering a used LS460 and was asking me what he should be looking out for. I told him to create a free account and look up the VIN. It turns out the last entry from the dealer was recommending replacing the air suspension and the work was not done. An expensive repair he would have been facing.
Lexus is the gold standard of service. I've owned Lexus cars for nearly 25 years and no one can compare to them. If they started their own exotic and supercar brand, they would dominate the market eventually.
Thanks for your reply. The vehicle is priced low enough to cover the PTU and DCT, but after adding the cost to repair those then it puts it in the ballpark of other available and newer FF's for sale.
Yes Jimmy, it's the 2012 black on black FF with 23k miles in Georgia. The VIN is ZFF73SKAXC0184036. Thank you
Please do your due diligence on this car. Google the VIN. There’s one site that said it went through Manheim in Aug 2019 with reported front bumper damage. Secondary wheel damage. I’m not saying don’t buy the car, just investigate. If the price is below market there’s a reason. View attachment 3190200 View attachment 3190201 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If no record of maintenance, I would probably walk away unless it's really the spec I want and I cant find another one.
BTW if you log into myFerrari, you are able to see all the maintenance ever done to the car. I can see every time I have dropped my car to the dealer, be it for a regular maintenance, a recall, or fixing a detail (like the battery change). You can also see the end of warranty, end of 7 year maintenance, and any extended warranty on the car. Cant the current owner do that?
Not sure why. Here’s a link to scroll thru the pics. Scroll down a little for the gallery https://en.bidhistory.org/ferrari/ff/2012/d0aa73afec820810-ferrari-ff-2dr_hb-zff73skaxc0184036/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
