Because exposure…also mecuum isn’t the best platform.
You probably the true overal market price, BAT is a bit overinflated but it does bring the overall market up;)

    Summary of today’s sell
    Bat 9k mile TR-164+5k=169
    Gooding and co. 1k mile 1986=210+12% fées=235k
    Mecum 86tr,26k miles-100k+10%=110k
    Bonhams 88 1/2 tR 18k miles=109+12=122

One more to go this weekend

Bat is a cash cow, simple as that. There is a reason why they get that much And cars sit at dealers …
Sarchione for instance has a 18k miles red on black TR that they bought early this year for 90k at auction, they been trying to flip it 139,12,123,117.5 still not selling… point is BAT prices are nice, lifting the market but not the truth everywhere.

My opinion is that a 25k TR is worth 110k outside BAT, vs 100k before Covid.

We are in a Bull market for TRs but still way off the 15 peak for great cars.

Sorry if you explained and i just missed it, but i still don’t get why.

If BaT is getting the best exposure and reaching the most potential buyers, could one argue that it’s the best indicator of true values rather than the worst?

It’s the Best metric right now… but for having sold 2 TRs and bought 2 I will tell u that dealers do not get that type of money for their cars. Either way it’s a good thing for u as an owner and I’d say it pulls the market overall.

Last sale of the weekend .
    95+10%=104 for a 23k mile car…

    Estimâtes were 125k-160k.

Sadly it’s what I thought. Market is up but really it’s just bat getting those numbers. I been following so closely for years that I was kinda scepitcal that the broader market was strong outside bat. They sure do sell faster and a bit higher but still have ways to go.

If I compare with them spreadsheet I maintain it’s like 10% up from the lows of 18/19 unless it’s on bat where it’s like 30% Image Unavailable, Please Login

just finally getting to check in now, was on a three hour (each way) overnight road trip yesterday and blew a tire in my '72 Sting Ray convertible going 80+ MPH. That was fun....NOT!

Anyway, there are TWO markets at the moment:

    1) BAT

    2) everything else

Its as simple as that. Trying to read anything else into it is a waste of time

So if you are thinking of selling your TR then put it on BAT (assuming they will take it.....have repeatedly heard they are very picky)

PS That '86 single mirror at $100K + comm sure was a nice buy!

Can only agree, specially when you see a 93 512 TR selling for 130 at mecum + 10%=143k

Market is progressing but Bat truly is the exception to the broader market…
TR , bc of maintenance etc are a much harder sell than 458, FF,f12, manual 360, 430 and all that modern stuff…
A damn shame bc the tr is iconic and easy to fix.

Don't sell a Ferrari at Mecum, I have noticed for years that they are the worst venue for Exotics. They are known for American iron!!

It's such a false sense of security to buy a car on BaT, I saw on a Motor Trend TV show the other day about a well known restorer said how well BaT vetted cars, compete BS!

I have heard nothing but horror stories (word of mouth) from people who bought cars on BaT, do they make you sign a non disclosure so you can not talk about the experience or something?

I just bought an Xke on BAT. Nice enough car, but if you don't drive them all the little subtle clues about a car condition are not going to manifest them selves. Clutch up take, lose steering linkage, tire balance. brake feel, etc. Probably won't do that again!

A '93 512 for 143 is a steal. Even more so in non-red color, even more so in black exterior, even more so with the black interior. That car was stolen!

They should put that on BaT to make a quick 50K.

Those are period-correct Speedline wheels commonly found on the early, single-lug TRs (1984 - early 1988). They served as the go-to replacement when Michelin began shifting away from TRX tire production. My car had them when purchased. Oddly, they don't always photograph well but look good in person. I actually used to get compliments on them but switched to OEM reproduction wheels because I prefer originality.
