185,000 miles on the clock… great to see - https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12064370 What is the highest known mileage Testarossa on the forum?
185,000 km is a bit less than 185,000 miles. Still, impressive. I think there are a few higher mileage examples out there.
Those are kms not miles. I am just shy of 95,000 right now. I have put over 21,000 miles on the car in seven years. Which would be more if I could drive it more in the winter.
And then there is the opposite end of the scale… a daily report every month for 30 years https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/10543117
It’s due for a major. The last one was 15,000 miles ago (25,000 km). I like how they say, “a car would not get to this kind of mileage if it hadn’t been treated and driven with TLC and been correctly serviced.” If it had very low miles, they’d say “it has obviously been treated with the highest levels of care” and if it was a mid-mileage car they’d say, “it has obviously been owned by someone who new that driving the car occasionally is the best way to keep it in good shape.” It’s sad that they compromise the car and their integrity with such BS. I mean, who knew? So many cars in our cities with 120,000 miles on them — I had no idea they were all shining examples of TLC and correct servicing! My Subaru with 160,000 miles must have an even better maintenance history than this TR!! (hint: I last changed the Subaru’s oil during the Obama administration).
Yes, I agree… however I always feel like I am doing serious damage to the car when trying to turn the car on the spot. It has exceptionally heavy steering in comparison to other classics that also don’t have power steering
It is great to see that some of them have covered these sort of miles. I hope to one day have a Testarossa with many miles on it, and it is wonderful to see some other people living the dream now. I think the price might be a bit hopeful though. There was another sold at auction in the UK a few weeks ago with 109,000kms (68,000 miles) which sold for GBP 62,260 (US $86,650) https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2021-07-17/cars/ref-80-1989-ferrari-testarossa-dl/
15-20 years ago I read an article about a husband & wife shared a testarossa that had over 100k MILES, had been repainted 3 times by then, thought they said they would drive it forever so they prob own the highest mileage one now.
YES! That's them, scroll down to: Judy Moritz 1985 Testarossa Purchased in 1987 with 8,000 miles for $60,000; currently has 225,000 miles
Yea and the other article I read they just turned 100,000 miles and that was 15-20 years ago, I'll see if I can do a search now that I know their names.
Thanks Mate! Really appreciate it. For me I am super interested because I am looking a buying a higher mileage car, and don't want to / can't afford to rebuild the engine any time soon.
I'm about to cross 60,000. I put about 4000 miles on it in my first year (got the car last August). If I keep this up I'll hit 100k in 10 years! I would love to hit that milestone.
