That China Airlines (Taiwan) plane went off when I was flying to Khaosiung every second week - they left it there for quite some time; it wasn’t comforting looking out the window on takeoff or landing seeing that!

 

I miss HK... got slightly teary looking at those videos of Kai Tak...

 

The vibe amongst the locals is so different now Karen…Most want out…

 

We're sponsoring a HK Radiologist who is moving here permanently with his family, he's not happy living there anymore

Yeah Greg , if you speak to most locals they have a 2 year plan to move their families out…Laws and schooling are changing very fast aligning everything with the neighbour…Good on you for sponsoring them Greg…They are hardworking and focused…

 

I was there at the time too. Do you recall the tail of the plane was in the flightpath? It closed the airport, so what they did is blew the tail off with dynamite to re-open the runway. Fabulous stuff.

If that was here, it would have taken 18 months to re-open to make sure everyone had their union ticket and the department had rubber stamped everyone's gender specific requirements.

 

Yeah, I’m getting mixed messages from my folk there... at the pointy end of a project over there at present, but I don’t think I’ll be going over.

 

I don’t recall blowing the tail off; I thought they just dragged it out of the way! Was definitely a sobering sight.

My record JM is a Frankfurt flight…We launched at midnight on a 12 hour flight fully stocked and 4 hours into the flight the bastards had drank the place dry!…Not a bad effort…
