Ixo Models is continuing to release worldwide some of their news paper Hachette models in 1/24th with this really nice A110 Monte winner. They are more money than the news stand models and have no booklet, but they do different versions of the cars. They look to be and are the same quality. The body and details are more accurate than the MC A110 Tamiya kit. Hachette does not seem to take shortcuts. Tamiya does adding some parts to their kits but not all.

They are starting to market the 1/24th F1 collection under the "Big Scale F1 Collection 1/24 De Agostini" I think mainly for the Japanese market wich will be more expensive as they will add extra taxes for imported items.

Really amazing quality for a diecast, better than most of the diecast and even resin 1/18th F1 models I have seen. Hachette does great models!!

By the way, I have the 1/24th Ixo Alpine A110 MM 1973 winner and it looks the same as the regular Hachette models, although they did use photoetch for the windsheild wipers.

Issue # 40 is my latest addition to the slowly growing collection of classic rally cars: the 1974 RAC rally winning Ford Escort RS 1600 of the legendary Timo Mäkinen.

While Timo never became world champion, he is definitely one of the icons of the sport, the legendary “Flying Finn” in its truest sense: bursting on the scene in the early 60’s becoming the king of the Mini Cooper - in the 70’s he pushed Escorts to the limit and beyond. He was a favorite of the fans because of his all-or-nothing attitude – he neither took care of the car or himself and could have easily won more events.

With this car he managed the 2nd of 3 wins in a row in Great Britain: A marvelous model even in this strange chocolate brown (Ford UK had several different sponsors in those days, sometimes only for one single event), very crisp details, a delicate grille (looks like photoetched) perfect lights without visible pins, and look at those rear trunk fasteners: an absolute must-have for any classic rally fan: 9,5/10 pts. It would have made 10/10 if they had painted the wipers silver instead of black – this is the only fault but the whole impression is great: even the 4 rivets each side which keep the rubber mud flaps to the front bumper are simulated !

I ordered myself a 2nd one which is on the way from Italy together with 2 Fulvias !

They just listed the next 10 1/24th F1 cars from the Legrandi F1` series... Oh boy!!!

    #21 Ferrari F2007
    #22 Benetton B195
    #23 Mclaren MP4/23
    #24 Alfa Romeo 158
    #25 Williams FW08
    #26 Lotus 72D
    #27 Ferrari 312T 1975
    #28 Tyrrell 006
    #29 Red Bull RB9
    #30 Brawn GP01

Some really good ones in there!! The Revell F2007 was a very early season car and the B195 not that great. I am sure the Hachette models will be much nicer than Revell Germany ever did. 5 never done before in 1/24th scale and the 312T was done but back in the 1970's by Marui wich has poorly done wheels and a big battery inside.

Latest issue (#41) of Hachette’s 1/24 WRC Collection: Sandro Munari’s Lancia Fulvia 1,6 HF, the winner of the Monte Carlo rally 1972. Though the Fulvias competitiveness came nearly to an end, 1972 was her best year: as the competition – Alpine, Ford, Porsche - had their own teething problems, Lancia managed to take the win of the International Championship of Makes that year (the world championship of makes was introduced for 1973) with drivers Munari, Lampinen, Källström, Ballestrieri and others – they won in Morocco and San Remo, took 2nd in Greece and a few other good results as well.

But the win of the most prestigious rally event of the year, even more so with an Italian driver in an Italian car, gave Lancia the final kick-off for the creation of the very first especially developed rally car: the famous Stratos.

Back to our model: it must have been a labor of love for Hachette – for me, it is the best of the series yet: all dimensions and proportions spot-on - crisp details abound, an almost perfect execution, just look at some details like the chromed grille in front of the wipers, the front grille, the stance, the wheels or even the stickers in the side window: 10/10 pts.

If you compare this one with the Quattroruote 1967 Fulvia 1,3 HF, which was in itself not bad when it was issued more than 12 years ago – there are worlds in between:

Just a reminder of who runs all these series of diecast model companies, with models in 1/43rd, 1/24th, 1/18th and 1/8th scales. Based in Macau this is the parent company of Hachette. They started in Europe and the founder was from Portugal. Fernando Pinto used to work for them before he started FPPM in Portugal.

Well, i don't know whether to laugh or cry.
With latest information about PCT from Tom I do understand some things better.
Hachette are doing great die-casts, of course. And a lot of the anounced models appear mouth watering.
However, I am a Ferrari guy.
The Revell F2007 was not that bad, I don´t need another one.
And I put a lot of work into the Maruii 312T many years ago to make a model out of this toy.
Indeed, battery space was large, but the wheels where not that bad from my view. I still like it.

Earlier series of Hachette were giving me hope for some models filling gaps, eg
    312T5, 126 C2B, 126 C3, 126C4, ...or never released Ferrari at scale 1/24 of 50´s and 60´s - and after 2007.
I hope they are not doing 312T4- I´m looking forward to Fernado´s kit, and also not for the 312B3B ´74, of which I have a project on the shelf.
From my point: dissapointed expectations here by now, unfortunately.
However, I am aware, this is the view of an individual collector, and everyone else has his on priorities.
Same like an industrial concern like PCT.
And there are still a good number of new releases to be anounced...
    Everything fine.

Still looking forward for the 312T2 ´76 :)

I've has same feelings about Le Grandi Ferrari series from Deagostini.
Where more then half of the colletcion was made of pretty well known and avaliable models.
But still there were some pretty decent and interesting cars, so in the end it was not so bad ;)

Now I'm trying to make up my mind whether to start buing cars from WRC collection, or rather let it go ;)
I started with Skoda and at the beginning I wan't quite impressed.
But on the other hand rally cars are so tempting...

I think if you are really into 1/24th F1 cars this collection is a must, and I am always happy when a better model comes out that I can replace a not so good model with. The new F1 and Rally cars are all new and much better than Revell or anybody else for that matter. I would say the Lotus 79 is better than the Wave resin 79, that's how good they have gotten. The 1/24th Le Grandi Ferrari street series was not like this as they used Burago to make most of the cars. Huge difference in quality.

Hachette has produced several 1/24 street cars of the 60's and 70's which could easily be modified (added parts and decals) and reissued in their 1/24 WRC collection:
For example: Peugeot 404 (Safari rally winner 1963 and 1966-68), Peugeot 504 (Safari rally winner in1975, Morocco 1975 and 76 Ivory coast 1971, 1975 and 76), Saab 96 (Sweden rally winner in 1971-73 and 76, RAC in 1971, 1000 Lakes (Finland) in 1971 and 72), Renault 8 Gordini (Tour de Corse winner 1965 and 66), Citroen SM (Morocco rally 1971 winner), Citroen DS 23 (1973 Morocco rally: final pos. 2, 3 and 4) etc.

These are already existing models that only would need some slight modifications and a few additions to make another great rally cars (Otherwise we would have to do it ourselves)....

I have sent this as an email request to hachette's mother company (see Tom's link) just now.

Almost tempting to have them do a few models. I wonder how much it would cost? I know CMA has done a few diecast limited editions. Would be nice to see Marshal have PC do something. A Pan Am 1950-1954 series of cars in 1/43rd or 1/24th would be amazing!!
