Hi Guys - just noticed that the housing around my hood bonnet release appears to have cracked. Is this normal or is it in fact cracked? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Thorn. well ****, thats what i was afraid of. Then the question becomes whether the part is the hood bonnet itself, which I think is unubtanium, or if its just the flange, which looks like its available.
Yes, the flange is available. Saw it two days ago on one of the suppliers' websites. I don't recall which one though, sorry. BTW, "hood" and "bonnet" mean the same thing. The lever is a hood release or bonnet release.
ha ha, you are correct, thanks. Frankly, i got to that phrase from searching through the threads for some tip on how to describe what I'd normally call a "doohicky thing-a-ma-gig"
One of the many things Unobtanium Supply here can provide, of an improved material...comes with installation guidelines. One has to be careful with the rear engine cover one as if it's left protruding the closing door will catch it.
IMHO - replace both - front & rear black enclosures with the aluminum from Superformance. It's simple. I've gone both routes - replacing the plastic with plastic - they dont last terribly long. Haven't touched them since the SF metal ones went in years ago (a decade?) Worth it. about 2/3 the way down the page "Boot release housing" Wow, prices have gone up. but still worth it.
GT car parts in Phoenix also has the steel surrounds. I’m fairly sure it’s their design and manufacturing as well. They probably supply them to superformance would be my guess. No price listed on their website though https://gtcp.com/product/aluminum-hood-and-trunk-release-surround/ Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
