From the start FE has been set as a specs series with the wrong formula, the wrong cars, the wrong tracks and silly rules.

FE has proved to be a poor showcase for electrification. The departure of 3 German manufacturerse is a serious blow to the series.

Only major players remaining are Porsche, Nissan, Jaguar; now down to 9 teams, maybe 8 (Virgin team was using Audi, maybe they switch back to Jaguar)

I've been a critic - not trying to be a smart ass, but I just couldn't get into it at all. It lacks the visceral experience that Formula 1 or NHRA fuelers give you (this even on TV - in person I can't imagine what Formula E is like).

It is too gimmicky for me. Almost like something NASCAR would have come up with. Make it about racing, and open up the technology some and maybe it will be more interesting.

I'd like to post something, but it's P&R ;). They've got actual EV products now -- the business reason to be in Formula E has gone away...

I pretty much have loved any and all forms of auto/boat/motorcycle/airplane etc. etc. racing since I was old enough to adjust the rabbit ears on the TV to watch ABCs Wild World of Sports - especially Formula 1 and any open wheel road racing - and have really tried to give Formula E a day in court - but I would rather watch paint dry with my ear stitched to the sofa than watch Formula E.

I have a slot car track on my dining room table which is pretty much the same thing but more exciting.

I really have tried but if die hard racing fans like me can't stand it then I simply don't see how it will be popular with the demographic that is on the fence about racing in any form.

    Just sayin -

They still suck but at least unlike F1 they have their priorities right: smaller, lighter and more power.

Race series types always go in and out all the time. Why do you need an all electric series when you already have a hybrid?

I agree with Steve: the business reason for this series is diminishing. Tesla isn't competing and I don't see their lack of participation hurting their sales.

Great points - And I would argue that in general the EV buying demographic are not race fans - I doubt there are Formula E watch parties at the local Tesla dealership (or in the mall) serving wheatgrass juice smoothies and chickpea burgers -

The only series where I could see an advantage of having electric power are drag racing and rock climbing.

Electric motors can give huge torque, and don't blow like those in in NHRA.

I bet they could also recharge the batteries between heats quicker than it takes to rebuilt those nitro-fuelled monsters.

But we would miss the noise and the smell !!
