Global listings I track for the 355 (all variants) are up by almost 100 cars from their bottom of summer lows. That said, quality of cars coming up for sale are not the greatest. Nice examples are still being hoarded.
New buyers, more often than not, do not know as much about the cars as owners do. Financial risk and time wasted to sort things is what they want to minimize. They prefer a specialist to “sort” or at least have the perception of it being properly sorted and then proceed to purchase from there. I found myself in the same position when I was on the hunt for a 70’s Alfa GTV. I’ve never gone on the alfa forums to read ANY technical stuff or do’s and don’ts. I just don’t care to dedicate the time for it. Fchat is more than enough for me and the last thing I need/want is to deep dive into the Alfa forums. I don’t read/check “GTV Market” threads. I check the classifieds, that’s it. Funny thing is, I prefer to buy an Alfa on BAT. In hopes that the peanut gallery or market bidding will give me indications I’m buying a good car. That’s because I don’t know too much about the car. BUT, I can certainly tell how well an owner sorted a car or if he took short-cuts. There are levels to execution. I’m looking to buy from an owner who seems to know what he’s doing, so all I have to do is stare at the car and drive . I’d definitely consider paying a premium for a really well sorted car simply because time is money and life is short.
Yes, for sure one of the great things about BaT is you have a bunch of people chiming in about the cars. Kind of interesting thing about yesterday’s BaT auction was that the high bidder/winner had owned an F355 in the 90s. He mentioned after he won the auction that he used to drive around SanDiego(IIRC) in his previous car with slicks, with a nice exhaust. So he was fairly expert about them, and was coming back to the fold.
Oh btw, I won that car with the tacky seats . Stripes came off in 20 min. Wheels are for sale in the Fchat classifieds . I’d easily re-paint the wheels as soon as someone gives me the original Speedline silver color code (I have a thread discussion currently open for that.) Seats… hate em. The centers are just not the right red or leather. I might as well have some fun with them at this point and switch em out to my nero 355. Houndstooth, Corduroy, or Alcantara center?? Outside of that… valves done using OE sintered steel. OE headers replaced with new OE headers with 12k mi on them (but I’m sure they’re still iffy). Stickies done, but poorly done (there’s levels to this). Belt service 3 years ago, so I have roughly 4 years left. Car pulls stronger than a mofo. Inefficient market strikes again. I stole that car. The best 355 on BAT so far to my eyes, but what do I know . Shineken well done! I agree that was a hell of a deal and easy to fix. Hey that paint code under OMNI is 101c Argento nurburgring met. Not sure what the PPG code is but I am sure any paint shop can mix it. I did a spray out and its dead on to a factory wheel. Don't get me going on wheel refinishing.

I thought these seats looked great. Done by Fernando at Prestige Upholstery in North Hollywood. It was posted here about ten pages ago, on this thread https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f355-market.487947/page-286 Image Unavailable, Please Login

Pretty sure it's a scammer. Look at their other inventory. Most recent review on Google: This is a fake. And if the automobile does exist, then that is the worst advertising you can do. Z8 for 38,000 € the most imaginable! Please just make sure you don't get ripped off. Kind regards

Too lazy to post the rest but generally speaking, Berlinetta / GTS values are still around the same or higher even in Europe now. Japan is still highest overall. The interesting thing is the delta between manual/F1 berlinetta/gts is larger. People value the manual quite a bit more than just the body style. F1 Berlinetta's and GTS's haven't really moved in a long time.

This car actually has a roll bar with an extra cross bar I’ve never seen on a roll bar equipped car. This is exactly how I would want mine to look. Appears to be leather wrapped too, so it must be OE. This is the BAT Challenge car which auctioned for about $150k. At the time, I said here this should’ve been a $200k car… even with the wrong seats.
$95K for a '98 manual with carbon seats and rare options. What am I missing, why isn't someone having this shipped over?
A 1998 is not 25 years old yet, which means importing is substantially more complicated and expensive than a 1996 or older vehicle.
U.S got the short end of the stick … as usual. Makes my life harder than it needs to be . In a few more years, I might have to buy one of these cars just to switch off parts.
