It's a nice example, the seller will do very well, I wonder how many Testarossas left under 3k miles? 200? Less? more?

I wonder how many truly have under 3k miles ( or low miles generally ). As two Ferrari techs told me, it is crazy easy to unplug the odometer in these cars and it was commonly done back in the day. I would never pay up for a low mileage example without day one documentation and/or a thorough inspection with zero warning signs.

it is only easy to disconnect when the counter is in the center console. then you still can read how fast you drive but the counter is not running. the later ones have the counter together with the speedometer and when you disconnect there you never know how fast/slow you are

No TR here (yet), but for me agree with the idea of full documentation being a high priority.

With speed apps for smartphones available there is prob a lot more of it going on than people realize.

I never paid over $50k for any of my 6 Testarossas and none had over 19k miles, no one really cared when they were so cheap, but now....

I looked at the current less than 3000 mile Testarossa on BaT at Ron Tonkin gran Turismo. The car was beautiful but the leather in the dash
was one of the worst I've seen. Pulled away from the vents and really discolored. I haven't gone through the 200 pictures to see if that was repaired, but
it's a HUGE job to fix. On a car they were asking almost 200K for, I thought it should have been repaired. I ended up buying a 3000 mile car on BAT, that the interior was perfect, but the car has other issues.

I'm really careful parking any one of my cars in the sun at this point.

The early examples (with the counter in the center down low) actually require more work to get to. I just had my entire dash out to reach the rheostat, which is next to it.

Here is a 1991 ripping around without incurring the mileage tax.

the car is for driving, not for show
and if you would show then the spectators have to pay for you. no show is for free

I have a different philosophy then, 2-3 times a year I think it is fun to let the public see these works of art up close, and discuss topics with fellow owners. And when I’m saving for a purchase it helps re-fuel my motivation.

Not to mention of abusing the old girl, his car, his problem. I NEVER did that, even when I was 29 and first purchased my TR in 1991. I did do that to my 3000GT VR4 but it cost $100,000 less.

Still looking for all your bargains.
Everything is way up. You were wrong again.
Just sold my 488 spider for more than I paid 2 years ago and enjoyed 5000 miles for free.

If you think that a current model ferrari 488 is done depreciating you are smoking crack. If you made buck owning it good for you, that was luck and not financial prowess. And no i am not looking for bargains. Still enjoying my tr, have zero regrets on selling my maranello (boring car) and am Still driving the crap out of my r129 that I bought five years ago , e38, two vw phaetons, and finishing up a project car. First gen Volvo c70 coupe that was given to Val Kilmer for the movie the saint. A beautiful fast and fun car that nobody else cares about apparently. But hey nobody cared about the testarossa when I bought it back in 2013 either.

Enjoy the hobby and again good for you for owning a car for free. If it's only money that you seek out of the hobby then your luck will eventually run out. Cars are not financial instruments.

This thread is still pretty pathetic and kind of like watching a bunch of teenagers play magic the gathering back in the 90s.

    Brad,
I’m not seeking money out of the hobby or I certainly wouldn’t have added 5k miles. Just pointing out everything is way up in opposite of your sky is falling rant a while back. So I was right and you were wrong:) ha
It is very nice to drive and not lose a ton on typical depreciation. And so now I can hop on the F8 waiting line.
Anyway glad you still have your TR and very interested in the Val Volvo if you have a pic.
    Big fan.
    Best
