A rookie winning a WDC don't make more money for the team than an experienced driver, so that can't have been the reason. The nationality of the driver didn't matter either: McLaren won titles with Brasilian, Austrian, French, or Finnish drivers. Chosing an "English guy" wouldn't have brought more "added value" to McLaren, or the sponsors. Maybe you think Ron Dennis engaged in social engineering when he promoted Hamilton to his team: bringing a kid from the ghetto to F1 to look good perhaps? Don't you think instead that he saw in Hamilton great potential, having watched him for a few years moving through the feeder series quite successfully. Having won 2 titles already, Alonso came to McLaren feeling entitled and was shocked not to find any preferential treatment towards him. Alonso received that from Briatore at Benetton (sorry, Renault!), but Ron Dennis put him on a par with a rookie; that was humiliating for him. Alonso felt cheated, and became uncooperative within the team, also vocal to the media. Both Dennis and Alonso could be abbrasive in their communications and that set the tone for a quick divorce.
More show than substance. People end up saying what others want to hear. Quite frequent for those in the public eye when they are harrassed by the media to say something.
Nothing to do with "the British media" IMO, that happens all over the world in any field: show business, politics, science, business, law enforcement, etc ... People are pushed to say something to feed the media appetite which then expose folks as contradicting themselves, and being hypocritical. The best way for F1 drivers would be to say nothing and deliver on the track, but then, they are obliged to give interviews, attend press conference, etc... Things were better all around years ago, when there was far less press intrusion.
Agreed. With the sheer number of interviews an F1 driver gives, pieces of them can be plucked out to support any narrative you like.
Clearly you don't have a clue about what you're talking about....for those of us who have, the story is very, very diferent.
As this is a Dutch clown (Bassie en Adriaan) The origin of this image is clear. Suspect they like Max better
Yes, that is all we know: one head to head match up 14 years ago. That argument suggests Hamilton had surpassed him and made Alonso irrelevant, which is completely ridiculous.
you are an ass. You know what I meant. Clearly if a state does not have an income tax, you don't pay income tax. Same as me where I do in business in states that do not have income tax. Stop being a provocateur - I approached this discussion objectively. You are causing trouble just to cause trouble.
I like you JJ but you seem to be a pretty sad and sarcastic hateful human being. I wonder who you like really Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry. I’m not a mind reader. All I know is what you stated, which was incorrect. Be a gentleman and just admit an error. I’m not impugning your motives, simply correcting the record. Have a great day!
You too, all good. Let's get off this and get out and drive (would be my 2nd of the day). This Spa race isn't happening.
The great Hamilton complained he got a few drops of water in his helmet. Shall we crucify the helmet manufacturer?
I wish u could leave the thread. U remind me of BOKE , 0 value added. And what has a case to do with a quote? [emoji1751] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
