I just sold my 512 TR with over 111k on it I owned it for over 24 years Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
One more evidence, that mileage is just a number on the dash and nothing more. Has it got any serious technical issues during your ownership?
Amazing! Did you upgrade / change to something else? Like the other guys I am very keen to hear what issues you had during your ownership? Cheers Stewart
that wasn't a sticker those shields were hand hammered in the fenders flush they are better than factory !
no real issues what so ever, replaced major parts as they wore out steering rack front and rear discs, shocks and bushings put in replacement radiators, that were made from aluminum, I did replace the engine at 96k with a one that had 16k on it. only reason was that the exhaust valves could not be adjusted with the shims. I do my own work and services. kept the R-12 system and sold the car with 30lbs of it to the guy in Europe. I have owned a 2003 575M since 2019. I am a retired airline captain and a A7P so I kept records like a log book. i can share them with you if you want. its in a word file. just email me at [email protected] they are quite extensive. unfortunately most Ferrari owners are washers and waxers and don't drive the cars too bad for them that was not me
none the car ran great only replaced the clutch and flywheel when I replaced the engine at 96K miles see post below why I did that
Proves that if one actually drives these things they work pretty well. My 308 has 49K on it and runs like a champ! My BBi not so many........but my '99 Tahoe has 204K and is perfect. Which Airline?
I totally agree, I owned a 1984 308 GTB and put over 100k on it and sold it in 1997 to buy the 512 TR, never had a major issue with any of the 2 cars. the 512 TR is back in Europe, the guy who bought it from me followed me on the Ferrari list. I do my own work on my cars, its not rocket science. remember the Italians never put anyone on the moon, we did! if you can work on any American car you can work on any early Ferrari. I was with American Airlines for 38 years. Retired in 2015, bought a used 2003 575M with 26k on it in 2019, it now has 52k on it. Ferrari has the best deal going, buy a high six figure car, and if you drive it the dealer will not give you anywhere near what you paid for it! when I took my 512 TR into the local dealer for an appraisal they offered me $40k for it and they knew the car because I had then do some work that I could not do( fuel pumps) the lead service tech said it was the best TR he had ever seen on the road! I got over double the appraisal from the buyer, he knew how I maintained the car. For those of you who are washers and waxers of these fine machines instead of driving them, keep the myth alive. Its like having a super model girlfriend and saving her for the next guy! I Love buying low mileage hangar queens and driving the paint off them. I have never had a problem selling my Ferraris with high mileage, when you show them the extensive maintenance records ( call them a log book ) its not an issue. clyde
Clyde, absolutely awesome on the Testarossa, and I agree…these cars are meant to be driven…..Congrats on the retirement, I flew for AA for 3 years, furloughed in ‘03 and now wear a brown uniform. For the longest time I used my 308QV as my daily when home from trips (have 55,000ish miles and is continuing to increase) and now I rotate the daily driver between it and a few others….cheers
