Kimi was cool as ice :D. Like Hakkinen before him, they got kick out of answering questions with a 2 word response and a sly smile.

Take out "Kimi" and "F1" an put in any sports figure in any sport who has been around as long as Kimi and you'll hear the same issues and statements.

Never seen Mika thrown out of a gentleman’s club in London for masturbating.

LOL??? HIs best. He was on track to be beaten by Massa 2 out of 3 years. He failed to show up after his title. Many times finding his pace at the end of the race. Oh and lets count the MILLIONS tossed away by Ferrari for his performance-MOSTLY lack of. It was a fraud. He is on Massa's level but lacks the heart Massa showed even after his near fatal incident. Kimi is literally a joke.

The joke was on Ferrari and fans overall sadly. Bye Kimi - you underperformed consistently and were grossly over paid. Be gone. I say this as a Ferrari fan. He should be paying it back. You realize Ferrari fired him and paid him off than have him in the car. That should have ensured him never being on the grid again. Pathetic is Kimi.

I rate LH far above Kimi. Kimi is a second tier F1 driver. In totality his career is what without 1 title. Not much. If Massa does not move over in Brazil, he doesnt get the title either that year. Dominant is not a word to ever describe Kimi.

LH shows up and keeps winning. Not difficult decision who should be well paid. 7 titles vs 1 - and fired for lack of results by Ferrari. Ice-melted Man is what he is. Kimi the epitome of the over - sold myth.

Wow, you don't hold back, do you?

I'm not so critical of Kimi, but I don't think he gave his best most of the time.

He was competitive during his 4 years at McLaren, and that's how I want to remember him.

I suspected for a long time that the lay-back attitude he cultivated really masked a deep lack of motivation.

It surprised me when Ferrari took him back, having paid him to leave. a few years earlier; what did they expect ?

Kimi had talent and experience, but for years he simply turned up to do his laps not trying much, and accepting the results as they came.

With all due respect, what a ton of tosh.

Kimi is authentic, he doesn't pretend to be something he isn't and doesn't want to please anyone.

One ex Renault F1 engineer who worked with him in Lotus said that he is an amazing, humble person.

Well, I think nobody denies that he can be a **** sometimes, even his fanboys.

But he has some pretty good one liners.

This thread wasn't started to evaluate Kimi, but to point out the hypocrisy among some critics on this forum (me included, BTW).

The fact is that, because of his popularity, Kimi got away in public opinion for some flaws, where others got crucified.

IN his prime at Mclaren, Kimi was the fastest gut on ytrack, even today, i doubt anyone is as fast as he was, mayve Charles, maybe Max, but not sure, also he was almos error free, and the " i don't give a **** atitude" was refreshing for once, he was just that good without having to try too hard, just a geniune talent. Elton says he had atough life, he was fronm a porr bacjground, Kimi had 10 times less money, hedidn't even had atoilet in the house and he made it, and he never ever complained about how hard it was for him.....and he's just funny without trying, Elton is as fake as a 300€

I think terms like “cool”, “authentic” and “straightforward” are relative to who the audience is. Kimi’s dead-pan, perpetually-annoyed style resonates with people who connect with that way of presenting oneself. Folks like Hamilton and Vettel are slammed here but would enjoy the opposite reaction with a more contemporary & trendy crowd. I try not to get into it so much anymore….I don’t dislike any of the drivers so it’s kind of moot for me. Most are apex competitors and their personalities are less important from a judgement standpoint.
    It takes all kinds,…

From just about any article or something written by people that worked with Kimi, none have a bad thing to say about him. About the worst thing I read/heard about him was, in his rookie Sauber year, he had a bit of a rough night and took it a bit easy on the Friday. When prompted by the team he could go flat out in corner X like his teammate did, Kimi came back on the radio and said he knows he can do it, just that his head hurts and going faster made it worse.

Come quali day he did his job properly.

I do find it funny when I hear of people complaining that driver X Y or Z are overpaid and should give their money back. Is Kimi paid out of your pocket? No. Does it make an ounce difference to your life how the person that did pay for him feels about it? No.

Even after the first 3 years, Ferrari went and got him back. Says something about Kimi and what people think of him.
