Hi all. New to the area, will be living in NSW (Nelson Bay area). My wife has a few SUVs, but I am currently without a fun car. Looking for something to rip around the countryside.

No real criteria, although I'd like to stay under $100K. Things I like:

    Triumph TR3
    Austin Healey
    TVR
    Kei Cars
    Old holdens
    Basically anything fun and interesting.

Want something turn-key, no projects. Any help is appreciated. Thanks all!

    TR3 - a bit slow
Austin Healey: Frogeye a bit slow, but cute; MkII Sprite in 1275 can be a bit of fun; Big Healey 3000 getting a bit expensive, but can be made to go.
TVR - if you've got big, hairy balls; a Chimaera 4.5 is probably the sweet spot, although the later in-line sixes sound awesome and are more resolved
Kei cars - there are a few Cappuccinos kicking around, if you like that sort of thing
    Old Holdens - too expensive

    Buy a Porsche 911

I've had my fair share of 911s across the years/range. I prefer to drive a slow car fast.

That's why I'm looking at Healeys. I saw a nice B1 for sale, but looks like it just sold.

Get yourself a 996 Porsche . Buckets of fun at bargain prices or a e92 M3 . quick enough , lots of fun and affordable.

    Something old…… Alfa 105 series

    Something new….. Alfa 4C

It’s scary that they’re actually quite similar in price too…

Dan I was thinking the same thing, 105 Alfa Romeo, spider or coupe.

What about a BMW 635 CSI, Porsche 928?

The advantage of the Healey is there are plenty of marque experts here and excellent parts availability. A well sorted one is a delight IMO.

Hrm, just reached out to the Vanderhall dealer. They anticipate finishing reg testing in the next 6 months and will begin sales. Reasonably priced too. May be a fun option.

It's in Western Aussie ie + $3-4K ln getting it to you.
If you are properly keen I can make some enquiries through the club as to where there is a good one.
There are some out there with issues.

Most of us in Aussie are on a first name basis.....

The 8's are stonking in both value and performance, the 4's are a lot of slower fun...you will always have folk come up and ask you about the car.
I will contact the NSW club and phone my mate in the Qld club.

There have been a number of different brands and body styles mentioned here.
Have you decided on a body style as that will eliminate a bunch of vehicles.

    As has been touched upon:
US-Aussie prices are a lot different!
Parts can be an issue with some brands both in pricing and accessibility.

On here you have a lot of very knowledgeable folk who will be able to help you.

EDIT re the +8's...DON'T GET A 4 SPEED!!!...they are an awful 'box!

Best I can tell there are 2 seat and 4 seat. Is there a resource for me to research body styles further? What brands are there other than Morgan?

    I'd prefer an 8, as I'm sure I'd be sorry later if I went with a 4.

Really prefer something well sorted. I've owned old MGs and Triumphs, and know what it's like to have something sit being wrenched on instead of driving it.

    Thanks!

    -Richie
