I guarantee it will be better to drive and live with than any of the pommy shatboxes discussed here already.

TVR? Are you kidding me, you couldn't drive one to the next suburb without breaking down.

I like that. Is the asbestos thing still an issue with Customs our end?

So you're no longer guaranteeing future value. Fair enough.

Yeah.....Nah,I'm happy as a pig in poo with my Pommy shoitboxes thanx.
In fact I'd be doubtful if a standerd C3 would be able to have kept up with this when Horse and I did a certain road earlier this year: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Yes, having just brought a car in, you can take your chances with signing the declaration at your peril, but there is a company in LA i think that specialises making sure it doesn't. The US still has asbestos products,

Just a few weeks ago, I sold a 35 year old car with 18K miles since new and the buyer, in Sydney, who apparently has imported few other 40-50 year old, low mile American cars from California within past decade or so, asked me to remove/replace its OE brake shoes and pads (all still had 40-50% of lining left) and add a statement to that fact in the bill of sale.
I also had to have a friend who’s a certified A/C mechanic to evacuate R-12 refrigerant from the car and write up work order to that effect.

    Automatic.
Yes, the car appears to have some engine bay and under car heat(?) insulation, all which I advised the buyer of, but after he consulted someone else over there, he didn't seem overly concerned.
The car is still sitting in my shop, waiting for some kind of "import approval"(?) from AUS authorities...

P.S. While I was writing this ^^ I received a package containing what appears to be a box of cigars and a thank you note from the buyer.
If they're anywhere near as good as the boxful he had sent to me couple of weeks ago, ...

You get the car inspected and certified in the US, via non destructive methods. e.g. boroscope to check the clutch. It would have to be a very original car to still have issues.

Some cars (usually luxury) have double skinned firewalls with asbestos inside. Don't buy one of those.

Corvettes it's only brake pads, clutch and 2 exhaust flange gaskets. Less than a day to change the lot.

Avoid shipping to Sydney - customs people here have attitude problems. Brisbane is much better. I have no experience with Melbourne.
