I see it’s Connolly so looks like Max came away with a minimal punishment.

From an unbiased viewpoint, I believe the stewards called it correctly.

Massa and di Resta's comments were spot on - LH left a gap in turn 1 which allowed Max to move alongside him, then LH squeezed him in turn 2.

The FIA is penalizing Max for going for the gap in turn 1.

Bottom line, the overtaking car bears the responsibility for passing safely. I think Max was furious with his extra long pit stop that put him behind Lewis, and Max was desperate to make up the time and track position. Lewis saw no reason to give up the position at that turn and so he didn't. They collided and because Max with the overtaking car, he bears the responsibility. If he and Red Bull have what it takes to fight back and win the championship, they will. Big plus, the halo saved Lewis from serious injury or even death.

Great win for McLaren...and they really won it...they didn't inherit it...the led from start to finish. And the team was right to have the drivers hold position. They controlled the race. Ricardo took the lead at the green flag and held all the way. He deserved to be supported by the team at the end.

I'm at a loss as to how that's the fault of Max. Lewis blew the apex yet again and didn't give Max space. I thought it was a racing incident given the importance of keeping or taking that position but in a million years I wouldn't have guessed a penalty on Max.

Stoked for McLaren! What a weekend for them!

Flexi front wings, airbox cooling, all you need to know as to why a penalty was dished out to Max.

You see there is no room left for you.... You back off or go around the curb like Lewis did at the beginning of the race to live to fight another day... Or you crash like Max did to end his race.

There are two kinds of drivers...and Mad Max didn't earn that nickname for no reason. LOL

3 grid spots at next race, take a 4th engine and start from the back, I thought that was Red Bulls plan anyway. Anything to keep Mad Max away from front of grid and more crashes.

The eternal victim was busy trying to back the Merc up.

The irony is that the preoccupation with appearances is contributing to FIA's "decisions"

I don't think that deserved any penalty. Yes, Verstappen was slightly behind but he was in the interior of the next corner, Hamilton could have left some room. Racing incident.

I think that Hamilton and Verstappen deserve each other: both have been living like if they're entitled to win for too long, they're not used to fight against someone who doesn't budge and it's inevitable that crashes happen. And I'm enjoying it, oh, yes.

If I had parked my car n top of another car, destroyed his airbox and rear wheel nearly taking my competitor's head off, i would at least stop to make sure he was OK before sulking off back to the pits.

    Disgraceful Mr Verstappen.

Another life saved by the halo.

Great win for Mclaren, really pleased they have pulled themselves out of the black hole, Binotto take note

They're saying Max wasn't entitled to racing room because he went for the gap too late in turn 1. Lunacy.
Max was on track and in complete control of the car.

These asinine decisions contribute to accidents.

Well, Hamilton was still trying to get back to the track, so I don't think that getting close to his car would be a good idea.

Anyway, Hamilton celebrated his Silverstone win after sending Verstappen to the hospital, so good manners have been out of the question since some time ago.

Bogus penalty. I'm usually not one for conspiracy theories but it's hard not to think that Hammy gets preferential treatment from the stewards and other officials.

The best thing about this race is Mclaren and Ricci/Norris.

The absolute best thing about this race was the 2 dithering school girls taking each other out. Please send them to Karting School and race it out there and let the REST OF THE GRID enjoy F1. I did not miss Max or LH at all.

So let’s try a thought experiment. Imagine max was in Lewis’s place, and Lewis pulled that stunt on max. Who would you blame? Not max I bet…

Bias is never a good place to start when analysing incidents.

The Blessing of the day was not having to listen to "What do I need to do to win" radio from LH.
