I It's hard to find an F1 driver with a killer-instinct on track, races clean wheel-to-wheel, and looks or inquires after other F1 drivers incidents.
+1 It's starting to resemble football (soccer) more and more. Agreed. The way the stewards worded it is insane to me. Car 33 left it too late? In what possible way? He made T1 and the exit with room to spare. They then say 33 wasn't alongside in T1 until ''well into the corner'' (very astute of them, but kind of irrelevant since the accident happened in T2!). They fail to take into account 44 squeezing 33, 44 being on colder tyres and Max being on 1 lap old warm tyres (i.e. full grip), and of course the significant speed advantage 33 had when approaching T1 leading to being late alongside (in a corner where nothing happened). A lesson for Lewis by Kimi how to leave enough room into T2. Funny how this move in 2018 (?) wasn't on (max penalty for not giving enough room) yet Lewis, who at a push gives as much little room Max did back then, gets away with that. Max the net winner as after the botched stop and tyre disadvantage, Lewis was going to walk away with more points. What was it that people said in Silverstone? Max should use his head more as he stood to lose more points? Et tu, Lewis. Et tu.
If you take a penalty for an engine and transmission in a single race, is the penalty cumulative, or just a single penalty? Thinking Max's gearbox may have damage. On the crash, his left wheel was spinning, but the right wheel was stationary.
It's hard not to be happy for McLaren and its drivers and it's good to see Hamilton walk away from that one. It was definitely a close call. I think the crash was a racing incident.
I was surprised to hear it was 9 years since Mclaren's last victory. Crazy statistic! Very happy for them. Ric needed the lift, always happy for him to win. Would've been nice to see Norris win his first one but all in due time. Ric deserved it. Even if there wasn't a crash, I think he'd have won it anyways. Great drive.
And roll hoop/airbox. Say what you may about recent evolutions of F1 cars, but their “survival cell” cockpits are truly impressive feats of engineering.
That was a lesson on how to be passed Seriously though, in that instance Lewis was on the outside was well ahead on turn in...(today) Max was never beyond Lewis' front
