In October 2019, De Tomaso revealed that the P72 will be powered by a 5.0 litre supercharged Ford Coyote V8 engine featuring a roots type supercharger manufactured by American tuning company Roush. The engine is a result of a technical collaboration between both companies. https://jalopnik.com/the-de-tomaso-p72-will-have-a-supercharged-700-hp-amer-1839437795 . .
Supercharged coyote while an absolutely awesome engine... Would absolutely make me cancel my order. My guess is this is the only way they can get it in the us
I have no issue with a coyote v8 other than its heavy, a few decades years ago it would have blown away most exotic motors, such is progress.. But exotics need to sound exotic and the clip of that car sounds like a mustang, which frankly is overworught overdone and boring. A great v8 sound is a sbc or sbf without cats but those days are gone.. A big part of all the hype surrounding the new z06 is the exotic sound, same could be said of the last Gt350 vibratey as it was. Imo while Roush may make nascar motors many of the rest of their stuff is at best equivalent to a kimber 1911 and Im being complimentary. Originally this car was going to have an amg v12? They might have tired an aston V12. I get what theyre doing, under the new rules with a design that has "historic" roots they can import into the usa just with epa no need for dot. The mustang motor works at 300k, a million bucks in my book its a bit of a stretch even though detomaso and ford v8s are legit. This car after all is not being sold like a pantera or vette as an attainable exotic, its a boutique car.

sensuous beauty like an old lola and sounds pretty good too but i think id rather have it be electric than a hotrod sc mustang motor.

It's pretty. What is the final spec? I think i read at some point it would have a Ferrari V12? What is the price and how many will be built?
DeTomaso hasn't been a relevant car manufacturer for years. Who funds these crazy out of no where builds? Where does the money come from?
Hong Kong based IdealVentures. Chassis based on the Apollo Intensa Emozione which uses a Ferrari derived 6.3L naturally-aspirated F140FE V12 developed by Autotecnica Motori and HWA AG. (that's why the first P72 had a V12) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Tomaso_P72 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Intensa_Emozione .

What'd be awesome is if they’d start producing and delivering customer order cars vs developing other stuff.
