Preseason starts Sept 25 https://www.nhl.com/news/2021-22-nhl-preseason-schedule-announced/c-326011322
Ovechkin signs for 5 years, has a legitimate shot at Gretzky's 894 goals. In my opinion, if gets 85-90 over the next two years, which he has been averaging over the last few years (in other words a great head start), then he should break it. This way he would only need 25 goals or so a year for his last 3 years. Very important to get as many the next two years. I find it amazing that he will either break it or at least end up 2nd overall by the time he's done, considering the goalies' equipment these days, and the style of play compared to the wide open run and gun 80's. Back then, the scores were 8-6, 9-5, 6-4 on most nights. If he doesn't end up breaking it at the end of his 5th year, and he is close enough, I think if he should sign a 1-year deal at that point just to break it. Congratulations Ovie, whether you break the record or not, on a remarkable career. Washington DC owes him.
Looking forward to a good season for the Islanders. They've been flirting with greatness for a couple of years, and they will be in a magnificent new home arena near Belmont Park.
Looking at going to the St Louis / VGK game in mid Oct. This is going to be an interesting season for the Knights. No Fleury. Lehner has to play better than he has in the past. He's hot and cold.
This might be a big playoff breakthrough year for the Oilers. Looks like McDavids found another gear coming off of last years ridiculous performance. Just hope Keith adds that Veteran Anchor role and goaltending is consistent. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Backstrom can say the same back, "thank you for converting those passes so I get the assist".... .....but I hear what you're saying.
Bought a ticket for Blues vs VGK on Oct 20th. This season will be good news or bad news which will be good news Good news: The team does well Bad news which still be good news: The team does poorly and they dump Coach Deboer.
Here we go! Of course, the Islanders are my #1 team, but as a former Seattleite, I'm going to keep an eye on the Kraken. It'll be interesting to see if they do as well as Vegas did coming right out of the gate.
Jim. hope you can get local broadcast of Kraken games with play by play by John Forslund. Best in NHL. He was a treasure here in Carolina for 20+ years until our cheap multimillionaire half-wit owner wouldn't pay him
Geez Vegas almost blew it with the Kraken. I'm not too confident in the VGK this year. I don't think they are better than last year. They had a terrible pre-season.
It's amazing that the Kraken will be playing in what once was the Seattle Center Coliseum, later the KeyArena. Built for the 1962 World's Fair and never intended to be a permanent building, it's been totally rebuilt for the second time, with only the basic exterior appearance remaining the same. That building is the equivalent of a cat on its third life! Amazon now has the naming rights, and considering how "progressive" (ugh) Seattle claims to be, they've dubbed it the Climate Pledge Arena.
A lot of the Kraken year depends on what the Sharks, the Kings, and the Ducks do this year. The West is the weakest NHL division if you look at these three teams last year.
If I had naming rights I'd counter Amazon with a venue dubbed FTE Arena. T & E stand for The Earth. Use your imagination for the F.
As long as Peter DeBoer is your bench boss, you should never have an ounce of faith. See previous comment
Ovechkin good start to the season. 3 goals in 2 games. A good head start this year and next year and I think he breaks Gretzky's 894 goals. If Ovi doesn't do it in 5 years (the length of his current contract), I believe he will sign for one more year after that just to catch Gretzky.
Oh, brother, I hope he makes it. Bossy was a great player and a great person. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/32433335/former-new-york-islanders-great-mike-bossy-64-reveals-diagnosed-lung-cancer

Upper deck tickets are $50 because you’ve got to spend another $75 for a high altitude oxygen tank/mask.
Hey Vegas won their 2nd game of the year and didn't lose anyone to injury! About half of their team salary is sitting home. Some day to day, some week to week, and some out months. Might be a tough season.
