racingbrake - you've peaked my interest. As an obvious authority on CCM rotors, I wonder if you can comment on a condition that I see on mine. Sorry if this is a little off topic but I seem to accumulate some very small white particles on the inside of the rims - almost like grains of salt. Does this come from the Ferrari CCM rotors and is it of any concern? Thanks in advance.

To clarify for others-- after to speaking to Racing Brake, these ZR-1 rotors are about the same size (only a few mm smaller diameter than a 458), however they do not have the same hat or attachment that you need for a 458. Accordingly they will not fit as is.

No I've never seen anything like white particles on my wheels, nor been reported by our customers whether using OE or ST discs.

The only instance that I have seen white is on the sides of the OEM pads from them outgassing as part of the burnishing process. While CCM rotors do produce some very fine black dust (CCM rotors are not dust free) which is noticeable only if you have very light color wheels.

The only possibility I can think of that could well be emitted from the wheels surface themselves, but is highly unlikely from the CCM rotors.

Well then it remains a mystery! I thank you for the response. It may be from the road surface as the rims are stock silver with a great finish on them. Vehicle is in very new condition with ~3K miles. Little particles resembling small grains of salt collecting on the inside of the rims. Washes off easily then mysteriously comes back every now and then.

The statement I made was regarding the rears as shown below. New ZR1 compared to recently removed (worn) stock Ferrari. Note the "machined" area on the ZR1 friction surface which is what I was referring to in my previous post. Otherwise, they fit perfectly. Since the ZR1 is front engine I suspect GM decided to push the rear a bit harder so they get balanced wear between fronts and rears.

    Hey,

I am planning to place an order (as soon as I hear back) for my 2010 Ferrari California, Front Brakes:

    12 pieces per axle set
    MSRP: $201.50
    Sale Price: $181.35
    You save $20.15!
    P/N: PD1395-11
    Axle Position: FRONT
    Product Code: PD1395-11

    Questions:

    1. Did I select the right part number?
    2. Will they fit?
    3. Any additional work needed to prepare?
    4. How long after I press go on the order before it is filled and shipped?

    Thanks.

    Mike

    Bumping an old thread.

Did anyone ever get these ZR1 rotors attached to the 458 top hats?

My 458 needs front rotors and pads, am trying to figure out best options without spending a fortune.

    Thanks

From what I read elsewhere, Surface Transform rotors and Pagid RSC1 pads.

So does the ZR1 ceramic rotors not fit the 458 top hats?

    They seem to be identical.

I don’t know. I was responding to “what’s best” without spending a fortune on OEM.

If there's no offset in the disc itself, it fits. But do yourself a favour and compare the ZR1 rotor price to a Surface Transfors disc. The latter is FAR superior in every measurable way.

My conclusion was that I’d go with Surface Transforms.
