Gurney is from Manhasset NY isn't he? I'm next door in Great Neck. Another famous person from Manhasset, or went to school there, football legend Jim Brown, 5 years younger than Gurney.

 

Dan and I were born in Port Jefferson.

Speaking of Great Neck, many, many moons ago, while in high school, I worked in an office on Northern Blvd in Little Neck.

 

(edit: Or was it Great Neck? Before I decided riding my bicycle the 6 miles from Flushing was faster, I'd get off the Q12 at Northern and the White Castle and walk another 1/2 mile or so. The last time I was up to your "neck" of the woods, I drove by and the building was still there. In about '67, I also raced slot cars at the "Indy" slot car facility which was just past the WC on the same side (southern) of Northern.)
