Hi. I’m planing to fly & drive my new to me 328. What luggage size will fit on the back? I’m taking my son with me, so side seat is not an option. thanks
Plan on something like two backpacks and a laptop case. Soft luggage is what you need. Also, it gets pretty warm in the luggage compartment, so keep that in mind as well.
No luggage will fit, a carryon is way too big. Backpack sized bags will fit. Trunk on my 308 GTS is 11" deep, 14" front to back, and about 55" wide. Maybe the 328 has better depth, but length and width will be the same. I took my car camping last weekend. I stuffed some clothing in the spare tire to keep the amount of stuff in the passenger compartment from flowing onto my side.
if your driving back a distance & the car hasn't been checked out by someone familiar with Ferrari, I'd recommend planning your route with possible Ferrari dealers/repair shops along the way just in case. AAA with towing/flat bed is very good to have too. Bring a phone charger too. I dont know about the 328, but the 308's cigarette lighter is persnickety on taking standard car chargers. The old joke was you dont need luggage, just your Amex card. Good luck
I'm picking it up at Broadwalk Ferrari, near Dallas. I purchased it at Oregon and ship it directly to them.... full inspection and major service performed. So far my utmost respect for these guys.
If we can assume that the rear boot space of a 328 and a 308 are more or less equivalent, lots of info - including bag dimensions - can be found here: Modern Bespoke Luggage, fitted for the Rear Boot of a 308! | FerrariChat
For future reference I found this https://classictravellingluggage.com/shop/ferrari/f328/ Which mentions: Maximum Dimensions (cm): Bag A: 30 x 73 x 32; Bag B: 30 x 47 x 32
It is probably best to plan on redistributing the contents of a foldable air travel bag into to several small bags such as grocery bags. It is going to be hard to plan ahead to get luggage that fits exactly. I have a couple of small travel bags I use but I still end up putting stuff in plastic bags or reusable grocery bags. Here is a photo to give you a sense of how much (how little!) space you have. ... actually, the photo makes it look roomier than it is. See Brian Harper's post for dimensions. There is also a bit of room behind the seats for jackets or other soft items. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've been pleasantly surprised how much space there is in one of these. Once did a camping trip to the 24hrs of Le Mans with the Mrs and squeezed in a standup tent, blow up bed, sleeping bags, electric hook up, primus stove, kettle and clothes etc for two. There's more space than there looks, but you have to be creative, and definitely no rigid shell cases!
