My neighbor who is a Lamborghini guy has three SVJs two of them have gone up considerably in value and he expects the third to go up as well. As he is a friend of mine, I kindly commented to him how I believe the Pista to be the better car and we went back-and-forth for about 20 minutes. To make a long story short he ends his argument with the fact that more Lamborghini models in recent history have gone up tremendously in value compared to Ferrari’s and that should say something about the two brands and said go ask your Ferrari Chat guys about that …. Any comments from the wisdom on this board ? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Odd comparison. The correct cars to compare, would be SVJ and 812 C. I know which of those will be the better value. Compare the Perf and Pista value, and it's more of the same. The SVJ and Pistas aren't competitors and in the same group. Also, an SVJ carries a significantly higher list price than a Pista, so there's that. I can't recall a case where a Lambo jn the same segment as a Ferrari had gone up the same. Not sure any Murci SV's have touched the price of a TdF either. So, simply put, wrong comparison. I’m curious to know what current market pricing is for the SV as I’ve been keeping my eyes open for one this past year. Only 186 were made (including a small handful of gated cars) and they rarely come on the market, at least not in North America. My gut says SVs are already very near TdF pricing levels and will eventually surpass it due to their extreme rarity.
As a Lamborghini (no Ferraris) owner, your friend is embarrassing himself.....right now EVERY exotic is going up and since Ferrari makes more models ipso facto, he is incorrect. If it wasn't for the economic craziness, all Aventadors would be depreciating as would every regular production model Ferrari over the same period. Hell, I can even sell my 2014 Ford Escape for a profit.... There are currently 10,000+ Aventadors out there (9,400 at the end of 2019), which exceeds the TOTAL number of Miuras, Countach, Diablo, & Murcielago.
Yep, and it was actually even longer, 17 years ('74 - '90)....and that number would have been substantially less if Chrysler didn't sell 650 anniversary cars. So production was probably less than 100 some years I guess. They made 2,800 Diablos over 12 years, and in the later years were only building 200-250 per year.
Whaddaya wanna talk about? It's lightning fast reaction? Its smoothness? It's state of the art technology? Oh, wait... Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Honestly felt the transmission would be the end of that car, albeit people don’t seem to care. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Single clutch can be great. Not necessarily the biggest Lamborghini fan but the single clutch is more “fun”. Downright violent during high throttle shifts. Even though the styling is not for me, the SVJ held the record at the ring which isn’t exactly a bad sign. And really nice to see some Lamborghinis that are actually very fast on track. To me the single clutch is one of the under-appreciated aspects of the Scuderia/16m. So mechanical feeling and unsanitized. And if you know how to drive the car properly you can make it shift as smoothly as you need. In addition it saves weight. Finally..Pagani uses them and I would sure love to have one of those! If people cared, they wouldn't accept the lack of interior space either. Many Ferrari buyers don't care about things that should be better, either. Slap a Lambo or Ferrari badge on something, and people are fine with it. I've yet to see anyone bring an SV or SVJ to a track day. The Aventadors stomping grounds are in the city, endlessly being revved at red lights or in front of inner city hot spots. So of course nobody cares whether or not the tranny is crap. That’s my issue with it as well. Not a pista/488 turbo fan at all and the svj r ticks all the boxes as an enthusiast, but the prices now are just stupid when approaching AM Valhalla levels. Clunkiness aside, mad respect for svj and its Ring record.
