No contest. The ride is more stable, there is no real discernible lag, and has already been addressed the F8 is quicker by more than a little.
But so is a Tesla. The lack of sound is the killer as is the change over Delta for a gain that will never be appreciated with speed limits set at 100 km/hr.
The 488 sound sucks too. Both suck. F8 is better in every way and the sound difference is negligible it’s not like the 488 is this symphony that can’t be missed.
I'm coming from a 458 Spider to the F8 Spider and I liked what I hear during my several test drives. I don't need the sound from the past anymore. Can't wait to collect the car in 2-3 weeks.
I appreciate your comment. Personally there isn’t a Tesla made that holds a straw to the design and beauty of a F8. I understand that sound is important to some. I just don’t happen to think that the sound of the F8 is so bad. My preference is you don’t need to hear a car before you see it. Just personal taste. You have way more knowledge than I do about these cars so I’m just commenting on my taste.
Well I had the 488 gtb before and now own my F8 and preferred the sound of it. F8 is indeed much faster but honestly 488 is more than sufficient for me (public roads). F8 does look much more modern though so I'm happy with my purchase but don't know if I would do it again (upgrade 488 -> F8).
Ok, I have put just over 1000 miles on my F8. The sound is not a scream like my 458. But the sound is such that my wife complains it is too loud when she is in the car with me. My neighbors give me that look when I zoom by as if I am breaking the law and they turn to look before I get to them. Point is as a stand alone vehicle it sounds great and when I step on it, it sounds very good. Will I get an aftermarket exhaust at some point, probably. But the initial disappointment with the sound has gone away. I am very happy with the entire experience. I did almost get run over by a Tesla while walking the dogs tonight. There is no sound. Comparing a Tesla to a F8 is like bitching about the comfort of my racing seats in comparison to my S550.
We all appreciate things differently ,whether it be sound looks etc etc. I respect your reasons also so please lets be clear on this. I would never suggest a Tesla is attractive, IMO ugly.
Do you really believe the Delta ( change over ) was really worth it ? I love the 488 GTB interior . The dash of the F8 has been stream lined to less parts and easier construction. The F8 steering wheel is awesome and i will do that conversion on my 488 GTB. But the rest ? For me no especially the GPF and more importantly I dont like throwing money to the Government
No one, would 765 Maclaren be better ? Point i was making in real street life no one even pushes their car to the point of seeing any differences , well those that prefer to keep their licenses.
I had a 2013 458 Spider which I loved. Other than the stock exhaust sound the F8 is better in every way. It was about a $200,000 delta for me and I would do it every time.
That is a jump from N/A to Turbo though. That's a huge difference. Especially when little rocket pockets here put 458's to shame. Delta is about 150 k USD however the ridiculous thing is the government basically gets all of it.
With second hand prices up as of late I took the bait and sold my 488 spider. Just ordered an F8 spider. The delta will be about 100k US and my car was an 18 so a no brainer really. For me the car is just too beautiful to pass up. I will order the Novitec exhaust before my car arrives. As far as comparing electric to F car well you can also buy an Apple Watch for a lot less than a Rolex. An Apple watch does a lot more. But for some reason all Rolexes are sold out Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I loved my 2013 458 Italia, but I loved my 2018 488 GTB far more. I too took advantage of the hot secondary market, sold my 488 and am awaiting delivery of my 2022 F8 Tributo. With a moderate MSRP of $356,000, the differential cost going from the 488 to the F8 is ~$100,000. Well worth it to me. No disrespect to 458 and 488 owners; absolutely great, world class supercars.

Stopped by dealer today and they said Ferrari NA just emailed today that they will stop taking orders for F8 coupes soon (most likely within next month - if not sooner). Spiders will be fine for at least another year. If you want a coupe -better get off the fence!
