    Hey all!

Super excited to go as this is my first Grand Prix! (any open wheel sport)

Anyone else going? What do you hope to do or see?

I'm hoping to possibly shake Roman "The Man on Fire" Grosjeans hand and get some things signed from several drivers.
I'm hoping to be fat and happy the whole event.
If you happen to be in Vista club you might see me!

Make sure you watch at a spot where overtaking takes place, many first timers sit on a straight...you might as well watch the nearby freeway.

Rented a trackside condo near the last few turns, should be a blast!

if you can get up there, the balcony of the shopping center in the fountain turn is a great vantage point.

have fun-an iconic event. glad it's back.

For me I apparently have seats overlooking the start finish and the turn behind it in the stands. The first two days I'm on top of the hotel in Vista club. I think I'm fortunate. I can't wait to show up and chill.

Well, with Power in position to take out Palou and O'Ward in early corners, ... :p
(After all, Penske does own the series. ;))

Wasn't Newgarden one of the cars that got into the top six with a lap during the local yellow for Power parking it?

Congrats Herta for the win and Palou for the Championship.

Bummer day for MacLaren on two continents.

Not entirely his fault: The car in front of O'Ward slowed, so Tato slowed, but Jones didn't slow enough.
Classic domino effect. Commonly seen on US highways.*
Palou also got tagged, front and back, but his car survived it.

Long Beach is not a track where you want to be driving nose-to-tail.

A bit groused with Newgarden: Once Herta got by, Newgarden was holding up the parade.
Was Penske hoping someone would take out Palou in traffic?

    ---------
    * Nearly got caught up in one on Boston's inner beltway. Car in front braked for no reason in the far left lane. Three cars in line piled up.
I was the fourth car back: I pulled all the way to the left and stopped. The bimmer behind me wound up next to me in the same lane.
That gave the car behind him time to stop. But the car behind that one didn't stop.
You should'a seen the glares we got when the cops stopped traffic to let the bimmer and I pull out, unscathed, from the middle of a ten or so car pile-up.

Jones and Chilton are wasting seats in Indycar.

good race, not great race. congrats to Palou. poor McLaren managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory twice yesterday (here and Sochi) :(

In Sochi, yes. However, Pato O'Ward wasn't very likely to seize the championship from Alex Palou yesterday, nor even win the race itself.

O'Ward could have won from 8th (Conway won from 17th a few years back!), but the championship was a long shot.

getting taken out on lap 1 made either impossible :(

With the benefit of hindsight, the way the race played out with Newgarden's and Herta's blistering pace, a win for Pato was simply not in the cards yesterday. It's a shame Ed Jones shunted him in the Turn 11 hairpin.
