Im looking at a photo of a gauge cluster in a European 1987 Mercedes 190E 2.3-16 and it has an ASD indicator light in the KMH speedometer right under the 140kmh marker. I know the 190-2.5-16 had hydraulic locking differential which had the ASD indicator, but never knew of any 2.3-16's that had it from the factory, which would require the ASD indicator. Id say of the 100's of photos I've looked at of 2.3-16's over the years, Ive only seen this particular cluster 2-3 times, and wonder if its original to the car from the factory? Can anyone with expertise comment if this gauge would be original from the factory? I am wondering if they ran out of old 2.3-16 speedo gauges since it was the last model year before the 1988 2.5-16's came out and MB just used the last parts in the bin they had at the factory and then used the newer 1988 gauges on the last few 2.3-16's? Or could it be some owner changed out an old speedometer and now the total actual km are unknown. Thank you in advance.
