Guys, by now most of you know Ernie sold his 348. That's right, Mr. 348 himself has moved on from Roxanne, after nearly 20 years of ownership, and countless hours of posting tips on how-to's for the 348.

I am going to use this thread to thank him. Feel free to add in any of your experiences/interactions with him.

I am certain I speak for all if not most of you here when I say what I am about to say.

-Thank you Ernie, for caring so much about fellow 348 owners

-Thank you Ernie, for taking the time to post up very thorough and very valuable how-to threads for various service jobs and repairs on the 348

-Thank you Ernie, for giving me the courage and inspiration to do my own work. I have done at least 3 major jobs on my 348 (including an engine out), all thanks to Ernie and his threads. It isn't just about saving the money by doing it myself, but the time I saved by being able to it myself (closest Ferrari Service Centre to me is 2-2.5 hours away). Without Ernie and his threads, I would NEVER have been able to do what I did. That is no exaggeration.

-Thank you Ernie, for being supportive via telephone and WhatsApp whenever I had any questions

-Thank you Ernie, for your valuable time, which you NEVER asked for any compensation. All you wanted was for us to do what you do, namely pass on the knowledge and experience to the next guy up who will run into the same issues.

-Thank you Ernie, for being such a great friend, and a true gentleman

I could go on all day, but I will leave some for anyone else who wants to say their piece.

In honour of Ernie, I will do my part to continue with supporting the 348 Brotherhood any way I can.

So true. I don't think that I would have taken the plunge and purchase a Ferrari without the support from people on this forum like Ernie. After the horror stories that we all hear about how these cars are a nightmare to own, listening to the actual owners and getting sound advice from them and service techs really makes the ownership more enjoyable. I actually look forward to working on my car and coming on here to get and give help. Thanks to everyone!

His post were in large part why I fin ally took the plunge. Other too, AceMaster has been great and others as well. In fact I am going through Ernie's engine out major thread now in detail. A huge number or pre-emptive fixes I did were a result of issues Ernie experiences and addressed. A lasting legacy is an understatement, folks will be reading these posts for years to come.

Once thing I didn't mention, which I should have, is that Ernie is one of the most unselfish people I have ever know.....so, to add to my list:

-Thank you Ernie, for being unselfish.

Not a 348 guy, but I met Ernie many many years ago as part of the SoCal group stuff. Have talked with him about stuff multiple times since. He is a great guy, and I hope he continues to post on Fchat.

Considering all the money he made in oil, he must’ve purchased a 355 :D

Ernie is also an original Stooge. He and I coined it while fixing his 348 gearbox in my garage and developing special tools to get the job done. This is one of the special tools..."Elastico numero ventisei" (bearing holder). We had a lot of fun in those days.

The only remaining original stooge to own a 348 is Plugzit. The only way to get his 348 from him is from his cold dead hands. Even an "act of God" could not part the man from his 348. Well actually Vvassallo is the 4th Stooge. I don't think you could part him from his 348SS either.

    Well put!

He definitely made the plunge into Ferraris less frightening (the bills sometimes still are, lol). I bug him for tech tips, to show him what I'm working on, or to just catch up. Hope he chimes in to tell us what's next!!
