They too car back but they didn't told me what it was. Knocking is gone....
I can see that they add fluid here so maybe it was a servo...

BTW.. Car runs like a hel and accelerates very hard.

No doubt. I can't imagine picking my car up at the garage and just having them hand me the keys. How about a repair order with the complaint, cause and correction?

Hard to say what's going on or what solved it for sure. I know this if adding oil solved the knocking I would still be concerned because if it was knocking due to lack of oil there could possibly be some damage there. Of course it depends what was knocking, like rod or piston noises or valve noises which is more of a ticking sound not knocking. The word knock is concerning. Anyhow seems you're satisfied best of luck and enjoy it!

That’s the old style power steering tank and it’s leaking ATF - which is a fire hazard. You should update that tank.

I like that you push the car to its limits after hearing a noise (aka knocking)

That’s just great most would have turned the car off and called a flatbed to bring back to the service center lol

At lease you know what the noise was and that it wasn’t a major problem (to say) because of the engine removal the power steering system probably was drained and didn’t after the engine was installed the system just had a air pocket (this system is sometimes tricky to bleed)

If the pump was not replaced and they only put oil in I would check to see if there’s any metal filing at the bottom of the oil tank use a magnet just put it in the tank all the to the down with the engine off our just have it flushed as a service which is not a bad idea to do anyway

seems the way you drive flushing all your fluids is a good idea lol

Just kidding about your driving love to see that and stretching the legs of the car is always a great thing —- this is where these cars like to be up to speed and high revs (safely) hot laps at a track are my favorite but highways and back roads are not for me to push it that far

Well, you have an old PS reservoir that needs to be updated to the better BMW one. This one leaks badly. Do that.

I thought you were checking oil for filings but I guess you were checking power steering

Would a magnet find much in the way of filings in the event of a low-oil scenario? I don't believe anything that would turn up initially following an oil starvation situation would be ferrous...

I ran my car low on oil
Enough to have the low oil pressure light come on
I shut the car off within a few seconds of the light being on permanently

after an oil change by a reputable company, the plug was loose and blew out.
I know in that amount of time there were no fillings and no damage to the engine when I removed it 3 years later for an engine out
