Generally yes. If it was going to fail it probably would have. And the change was very small since there isn't a lot of room to add more metal there. But obviously there are no guarantees in life and even post campaign variators have failed. Prices now have a pretty big spread, It is all about condition. Sure, euro v US car has some spread but it isn't as big as it used to be, I would guess closer to 5K or a bit more.
Can physically look at the variator, replacement ones for the campaign have a Green Dot painted on them

The cambelt variator on my 2001 Euro 360 Spider failed in 2012 at 67000 km. Chassis number #125348. That was an expensive day ($10k+). But at least I have a bunch of nice souvenirs for my mancave now. The Ferrari service shop even painted one of them in a nice colour for me Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is this upgrade still covered by FNA, if NOT performed on your car? or is it passed the period of the service campaign?
My understanding is that it has passed the period of the service campaign - I went ahead and had mine replaced as it was within the VIN and Engine # range. Was told by the tech it could have failed at any time even though it had 30K+ miles on it. $4500 for peace of mind!

Pocono Sportscar (former Ferrari dealership tech in PA) replaced belts, tensioner and variators for the price I mentioned (labor + parts). I think that's where you need to be - around $5K.
Have you talked to Haris at H&S Motorsports? Haris did a 30k major on my '04 360 earlier this year. Belts, tensioners, variators, water pump rebuild, brake service, etc. for $8500. I have no affiliation with the shop other than being a satisfied customer. I've put 2,000+ miles on my car since the work this spring.
