There are four other places I'd like to be on Saturday (including a high-school reunion in Florida) but I chose Italian Car Day because I've always enjoyed it fully. And the weather will be close to perfect.

If you own any Italian or French car (or bike) and live in the greater Atlanta area, be there or be square! (This also applies to cars with Italian styling like Karmann Ghias, Cadillac Allantes and certain Nashes, or Italian cars with American engines like certain de Tomasos and Isos).

From the same owner came this lovely reproduction of a 1960 250 Testa Rossa, like the car that won Le Mans that year. It was based on a shortened 250 GTE chassis, with a 250 GTO engine. He said that all the Ferrari sounds in the move "Ford V. Ferrari" actually came from this car. I believe it won the Best Ferrari award (as voted on by all the participating drivers). In the 4th and 5th photos below, the engine is running.

Here are some of the fine Alfa Romeos that were in the field, and one that was inside the showroom (for sale, of course). The 7th and last photos are of a very rare car, a 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo, of which only 33 were made, 22 of them coming to North America, of which this is one.

It's nice that we now invite French cars, because honestly an Atlanta French Car Day would probably be a bit of a snoozer that could be held in a auto parts store parking lot! Only 3 cars showed, representing Renault, Citroen and Peugeot; a Matra Bagheera that was registered failed to show due to mechanical woes. (Where do you get a Matra serviced in Atlanta?) Not surprisingly, the 2CV won the class. (A drag race against the little Fiat would be interesting, but quite slow.)

That's my 228 Maserati that won. I would like to thank all that voted for it. Fun day. Nice to see a great turn out. Also thanks to FMOA for hosting. Great pics Jim!

You're welcome! If you still have the yellow Merak, it would have been welcome. The only vintage Maserati there was the 228.
