Wow!! I would like to know that what that trip involved. Longest Western US loop that I have done was about 7,000 mile and longest point to point with only gas/BR stops with rain and snow was ~1,300 miles.

Not my longest trip but just completed 1,000 miles Charity #fogrally in my 328 GTB along with 50 Ferraris. Together, our group completed 50,000 miles weekend.

In 1963 I drove my Ferrari almost 3,000 miles from Oakland, CA to Bayonne, NJ (just across the Hudson from New York City). This was in the day before most interstates, and most of it was on the old two lane Highway 66. Encountered a blizzard crossing the continental divide in New Mexico and the heater did not work. Believe it was the only time a Lampredi four powered Ferrari ever drove across the USA.

    Best regards,

    Robert

Yes I was in the Navy for 35 years, including two sea tours, 375 days in DaNang, etc etc.

You may find much more about the car by using the FChat search function looking for:
    500 Mondial, S.II 0556(0446)MD or
    naked Mondial
or googling any of the following:

    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a21237575/the-admirals-ferrari-500-mondial-series-ii-goes-up-for-sale/

after which you will be so tired about hearing about this car that you will go back to Cavallino Magazine Issue 171 or Prancing Horse issue 171 and look for discrepancies in my memory.

    Best regards,

    Robert

I did 1200 miles in a F12 from Portland Oregon through eastern Oregon and down to Nevada and back up. Car ran like a dream and really pulled hard through those desert roads...

Did the Texas 1000 Road Rallye in 2004 in West Texas and Big Bend in my 1995 355 Spider. We did 250-350 miles per day, with around 1,500 total miles driven. The best thing about this rally is they bring a mechanic's truck with 2 mechanics, a haul trailor in case you break, as well as 8 brand new Porsches to drive anytime we wanted to. We did get some bad gas in Terlingua and had to put the 355 on the trailer for the final 1/2 day run. Drove one of the new 911's they had brought.

That big open country was awesome with a mix of older and newer exotics in the group. Was there with Bill Neale, one of Shelby's oldest and best friends. Loved to follow him in his Terlingua Mustang, and his buddy from Boston in his 959. Ended at Jim Hall's office and shop, getting to walk out on Rattlesnake Raceway in back. He then spoke to us that night at the Petroleum / Chapparral Museum in Midland Tx about how he learned aerodynamics from trial and error.

    It was an epic trip.

Two trips, in my 348 in 93, Tucson to Atlanta to Annapolis to Nashville back to washington DC, then home to Tucson. In my 355 Tucson to Palm Beach for the Cavallino and back. Jay Koka did a picture of the 355 while in Florida. Multiple trips from Tucson to South Dakota in both cars over the years.

The guys who ran the California Miglia used to do an informal, free, 500-mile, one day event. I went on it one year in my Daytona. It was about 10 to 15 cars.

They found the best roads for the trip, not interstates. It was a lot of fun! I got one ticket in some national park we were going through doing 95 mph.

I never carried a camera back then but I have the memories.

A few months ago I did 800 miles in a single day. The 575M was a fantastic choice for the drive (mostly highway).
