decent job by red bull against elton...we knew he would recover most places...
Good drive by Bottas. Hamilton did fight the decision to pit for a few laps, and the team insisted it was the correct move. It doesn’t appear that it was. -1pt or -6pts….still need to win to lead the championship. But, I’d say it was a strategic foible again. In a battle this tight, every point counts. Could argue that calling in Charles was also. Carlos finished without pitting (although he was stuck in eigtth after the halfway point).
Max had this championship in tha bag without Mercedes rammimg and Pirelli crap, he lost at least some 60 or 70 points....
considering the speed advantage of the MB not bad by RB. Curious how Ferrari would due with a good chassis as this current one is ****e. Lewis whines about the tires, does fastest lap, thinks he can make it to the end on the set of tires he whined about and overrules the team and then blames them for his error. Senna or Schumey he ain’t…..
What can we take home for Ferrari, the car is not bad at all now, Carlos crap stop but great drive, Charles great drive but the we should have brought him in, points gained versus McLaren
I think they had to hold Carl back or otherwise risk an unsafe release due to traffic in the pit lane.
A somewhat boring race that became a lot more interesting halfway through. Congrats to Bottas and the Red Bull guys for a consistent performance. Leclerc and Sainz did very well also. Bring on COTA!
The engine is being refined. We shall wait to see the chassis next year and what performance the package has. Should be interesting!
Lec lost the podium with the decision to try for win, can never fault the team for that. But they should have realized sooner that it wasn't gonna work, then he would have had enough time to get the tires in optimal stage. Lec was faster than Perez, and if it was dry, I think that Ferrari could have challenged Max too.
Agree, Perez on inside, Gasly in the middle...Alonso takes a risk on the outside. Purest example of a racing incident if there ever was one. That penalty was absolutely ********. Nothing Gasly could've done there.
They must have been trying an overcut by going long and lucking into a dry tire change but they really should have tried an uncut and changed early. Ultimately, would have been +1 or +2 but not a win so, who cares, LOL. More concerning to me is Charles’ engineer response to his question before the stop “where will I end up at this pace” the answer was “you win”. Really?
When button is in the commentary box, Sky TV is hard to listen to. Lewis this and Lewis that. Annoying.
I actually think both Ferrari and Merc had bad strategic decisions at the end. There was plenty of data revealing that the inters take 10+ laps to get up to speed. Yes, Perez passed Charles easily, but that’s when the tires were in the graining period. They were still running in the 1:34’s on the used inters at that point, then dropped into the 1:35-1:36’s in the final laps. Charles should have had a podium today
He made it count when the car was fast. 25 lost to Pirelli, 25 in Silverstone, another 16 at least in Hungary...
There was only 1 car no? And after that car passed it still remained stationary for a second or 2 I thought...I think they had an issue.
