As my car lumbers its way through the seas, and presumable about to spend a month in the port of NJ, I've started thinking about the finer points of ownership.

Unlike Porsche 991's, Ferrari seems to have provided a great place to put a cell phone, but what about a compact pistol?

This isn't intended to spark a 2nd amendment discussion, so lets stick with car talk.

Other than the glove box, is there a good spot that easily accessible?

Anywhere you can--I keep my Keltec P30 between the seatbelt insert at the side of my seat and the console. Easy to grab with my right hand.

If you are in Texas, either concealed or open carry. Don't leave it in the car. The back shelf in my 458 is a good spot for a rifle bag:

JM4 Tactical leather magnetic holster, the magnet is enclosed in leather. Set it between your legs down on the floor mat attached magnetically to the forward/backward control lever for the racing seats. It is easily accessible and secure due to the strength of the magnet.

Mines in my glove box in a Sticky brand holster. Either a Glock G43 or my Sig P365. These are micro 9mm guns and easy fit in the glove box. If I feel I need it closer then a belly band or in the door pocket. I have a magnetic holder in my SUV but I see know where the glue or screw it in and not ruin the car in my eyes.

Between the seat and console may work. I'm not drilling holes into my cars for a holster. I've also simply put it under my right thigh.

Sig P238 is a fantastic 380 auto and easily concealable on the person. Why would you ever consider yourself safe once you have stepped out of your car and so leave the gun behind in the car?
If I’m too lazy to grab my Sig at least I always have my NAA .22 mag in a pocket.

A cross body shoulder holster is still the gold standard for seated carry. This is how secret service carry when seated in a car.

Always appendix carry for me, in or out of the car. I would never leave a firearm in the car when not attended anyways.

I once had a compartment added to my roof liner.

No one ever looks up, and moving your arms up looks defensive or like your surrendering.

That was a long time ago, but it was effective.

I usually did between seat and console for f430 but considering front of seat or shoulder holster in winter time. Maybe add in a mounting point somewhere close at hand on door side for car gun. And have primary on person.

It really depends on whether your are left or right handed. I am ex-Army, so my natural reflex, due to training, is to draw from the waist belt. A waist holster is a bit uncomfortable though in the confined space of a sportscar. I would suggest a holster with a double sided adhesive tape, attached on either side under the steering wheel, depending on your dominant hand.

Man, what sort of country do you guys live in.......not feeling safe while driving your car.

Do you feel the need to carry a firearm because you expect an agresser to routinely use a firearm, or do you carry a firearm as a show of aggression ?
I'm not suggesting anything is wrong in this behaviour, but as a European its so alien to our way of life. Yes, there are firearms, but rarely used in a criminal situation.

As I say, I'm not being negative, just very curious....
