Max/ go for it. Pretty safe bet on long term value.
If a stick even crosses your mind get it. When I was shopping for mine back in the day, I could have been an owner alot faster than I was if I would have settled for a stick. I'm soo glad I didn't. Stick.
Watching this f1 spider on bat with reported f1 issues. The fear of costly f1 repairs is a thing. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-ferrari-360-spider-25/
This was a re-paint and had other "issues". Windshield replaced, "wavy" dashboard, oil leak, and 6 owners. In my opinion strong money for that car.
I hear you, but people make their own choices and get enjoyment in a variety of ways. In the FCar life, live and let live!
The challenge for a buyer today/ option a- gated manual Less complex Serviceable by most wo special skills The last era gated cars for ever Current Empirical data - "Hype".... gated cars are all the rage now.... agree with it or not the data is staggering...... this hype can drive purchasers to the safer future value bet...... I'm looking forward to the new utoober market trend vid on 360 gated cars..... should be a new one due soon.... Look at the volume of people lining up for gated swaps..... business is booming.... and resale of these cars supports at least breaking even on your investment....... or higher..... tbd. option b- f1 New technology over 20 years ago Perceived or real? Not serviceable diy. And big $$ retail diagnosis and repair. Many quirky potential faults that leave car inop.., egs rear lid detected as open.. others.. the challenge w ‘new tech’ 20+ yrs ago… like a circa 2000 Mac .. the tech curve is so rapid that the evolution in cost performance reliability in flappy paddle shifting is dramatic and perceptible by most people …. my wifes 2018 dct is a good example of a modern automatic performance experience.... the lc of f1… the casual f1 exp can be a negative one…. Until you learn it… it is jerky and non intuitive to a plonker given the keys to an F1 for the first time…. I don’t think you could sell a car a with this system today. they would be asking the salesman questions comparing to a modern xxx car..... my buddy can make his sing thru the gears though... so I know they can perform great in the right hands.
I've driven plenty of both and just bought an F1 as that's what I was in the market for. They are very different but the F1 is no slouch, especially if you drive one with a realistic expectation.
F1 is fun and games (personally I think it’s a crappy transmission and the market agrees) UNTIL something doesn’t work right and you’re 1) at a stoplight and the car won’t go into gear while everyone in a Kia is driving past you making smug remarks about how Ferrari’s are so unreliable 2) gripe about how much the dealer or your shop wants to fix it and they can’t seem to get it right, or 3) you post here about the F1 problem. it’s not if… it’s when. Then wait till the parts for the obsolete technology become NLA..
The gated spiders are coming out of the woodwork, the coups are few and far between! There is no way to assess if there is a premium or a discount with so few auctions...
That is why I am and always have been a self-shifter! And I get the fewest electronic gizmos I can, except for my Cayenne SUV which has an automatic...
Parts so far have not been much of an issue. Try getting parts for a gen 4 camaro if you want a real challenge. Or control arms for a Gallardo..
11k mile gated coupe, earlier year (2000), Rosso Corsa on Nero, no Daytonas but shields, Challenge rear grille, Tubi exhaust. Over 4 years on belts: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-ferrari-360-modena-32/ $147k with BaT fee
Strong price, nice car. Have owned gated spider for four years and the passion has not waned. These are excellent cars and generally are not difficult to maintain. Like all, repairs can be expensive, but 8500 rpm’s and gated metallic clack are hard to beat… Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
It seems that gated 355 GTB and GTS are going $130k-$150k recently and 430 gated spiders can exceed $300k I was expecting this to go $150kish. I am worried that if a 40,000 mile 360 hits $300k I would be a little skittish about driving it!
