    As you've said, you are not a mechanic or an expert, which is fine. Many people doing/attempting DIY work on this site are in a similar boat and turn to some of the experts here for advice/assistance. I think it's great that you are using the youtube platform to show this process, but it's less beneficial for the community when you spread misinformation as a result of your lack of knowledge.
    "ZOMG this engine was about to blow up! look at this belt! 7 years since the last belt service.... etc.
    When in fact....
    I'll add that when you put it back together, the tensioner gaps will change as well for the same reason.

    Hopefully Josh is doing the cam timing. Would love to see more of him on the channel- he's great!

    Daniel is very transparent about his lack of experience and expertise in this field. His videos are all about learning along the way with him rather than him preaching what is right an wrong. I find the videos entertaining especially when you consider that: a) they are totally free and b) nobody is forcing me to watch them.

    I'm looking forward to seeing the progress and the quack counter racking up hits :D

    One thing people often do on "instructional" videos that drives me crazy is using incorrect terms for parts when describing assembly or disassembly.... eg: a nut is not a "screw", a stud is not a "bolt", engine accessories are not "remove all the crap" first, cars have brakes, not "breaks". Maybe I'm just a little ocd having worked in aviation for 40 years where technical writing and descriptions of components and procedures Must be correct due to liability issues ?

    Breaks instead of brakes is a common error often caused by spell correction. By the way, you have a stray capitalization - the word "Must" in your last sentence - and you ended that declarative sentence with a question mark and an unneeded space before it to boot.

    He's talking about nomenclature not grammar however. He is correct I that regard. Studs are not bolts, that's not spell correction. In the end viewers know what is meant and I suppose that's good enough.

    While I accept that spell correction may let the odd 'break' make it through I find this one a particular annoyance especially when it is repeated over and over.

    In fact a prominent YouTube Automotive channel (with millions of followers). Regularly uses the word 'breaks' when referring to brakes or braking of a vehicle. This appears in custom graphics that someone had to both make and copywrite which indicates to me that the whole lot of them don't know how to spell.

    Rant over. Now back to your regularly scheduled 355 engine rebuild.

    Will you be replacing the NTC coolant temperature sensor (for those erratic readings)? It's the easier one to get to, but it's probably best to replace it before you put the air plenums back on. P/N 125769. There is a Bosch equivalent #0280130026

    I can't remember which part it was in, but Part 2 had some excellent diagnostic tips.



    Note that 2.7 ECUs have 55 pins. I see Josh was looking for a 5.2 88 pin plug. Unfortunately, I gave my spare one away a few years ago.

    I have a scanned copy of the ECU diagnostic tables if anyone requires them.

    Actually i was looking for this ECU diagnostic tables and couldn't find one.

    If you can send my a copy, that would be great. How big is the file, possible sending via Mail?

    I'm work on helicopters with paperwork I always write down what the book calls the part
    And reference the manual I used to do the work.

    If I was doing videos about working on my helicopter or my car I'll sure as **** call something the wrong name I know it haha

    It is social media nonsense like this that give these cars a bad rap. Just like the 348 video mess a year or so ago form the same OP.

    If we are going to do an engine rebuild video, lets get some people from this site that know how to do it correctly.

    Instead...."here is a 355 engine re-build video I did!"....with this cringe worthy qualifier:

    An actual technical video series from Paul who is a member here is 7 parts incredibly well done and detailed. An Actual how to. NOT the same as intent as the OP videos, here is part 2.

    Look, I actually have no issues with the OP videos per say, it is entertainment, to that end its fine. There is some interesting stuff there but lets not confuse it with actual how to videos. Hey I picked up a thing or 2. The videos were actually not bad, there is some enjoyment much more so that Pauls videos, but Pauls videos are not entertainment they are how to. Exploiting the cars with click bait titles that that later clarified in the videos granted... but all people remember is "a 348 costs 25K to do a service." That's the issue, but its part of the business model we know.

    The videos are fine as entertainment, making money form them is fine, its America, I am all for it! This is the issue for me, Just say:

    "hey I am here to make money from the videos, I will be adding salacious text and click bait, after all I am trying to earn a living, don't take any of it personally its just what it takes to compete in the video market place, hate the game not the player. I am not trying to present the cars in a positive light in fact less positive the better and I will leveraging that aspect to drive clicks with salaciousness click bait. Sorry guys."

    The game is fine, just be honest about it is all as it gets insulting and we feel the need to call it out then its caught in a wash rinse repeat cycle.

    Provided you can't get the labor for cheap, what would you say is a fair price for a major on a F355? I have one and the last one was made by the previous owner 4 years ago but not much mileage since then.

    Let's say you can get labor at $100 per hour. A comprehensive engine out service is 40 hours of labor. $1500 of standard parts, $500 of fluids and incidentals. Count on $6,000.

    If you need a valve job, well, double that minimum. If you have to replace a liner, then it's $1,000 multiplied by the number of liners you are replacing.

    You might get a volume discount.

    I think it's good he's learning what's wrong with that? What's wrong with being wrong sometimes he also gets **** right too.

    YouTube is what it is, If anything it's a look at what goes down tearing into this car people love seeing that even if there's other videos out there.

    The Ferrari world has so many flavors of snobs. In this case we're seeing the DIY Expert being a snob against DIY First Timers, I believe the DIY Experts getting beat up previously by Pros that cause this aggression. I'm going to leave now, as a Club Racing Expert I'm going off to snob Track Drivers, hopefully no Pro Racers show me up. ;)

    Look, NGSD comes on here and says he knows nothing about 355 engine rebuilds but is posting a video about rebuilding a 355 engine.

    What's the point? I see a few angles
    1. He needs clicks on his YT video to make his money
    2. He is seeking out expert advise from long time owners to validate his video.

    History of NGSD suggests it is not #2. The 348 fiasco solidified that.

    So in the end he is making a ridiculous, sensationalistic video about the car many of us own, like and know well. He's doing it because "Ferrari" gets him clicks....that's it.

    The video will be splashed with inaccuracies, sensationalistc comments on parts availability and dramatic scenes showing the expense of it all and how he had to sell a kidney to pay for it.

    None of that does the group that lives here any good. It also does little for the people looking for a 355 as they are getting bad information which in turn hurts the reputation of the car.

    He adds no value to the 355 group and has admitted as much
    He is making money on YT by disparaging and degrading the cars we like and drive
    He doesn't care one inch about anyone here....just expansion of clicks on YT.

    I find the whole thing weird....go make your video. Lots of other stupid ones out there. But why show up here looking for some type of inclusion or exposure?
