One of the big Ferrari content IG pages is reporting that Ferrari advised dealers this week that they won’t be accepting any new orders for the F8 Tributo/Spider or 812. Haven’t seen this reported elsewhere. Anyone know what’s up?? Did they really just discontinue their V8s and 12s in a snap?

It has been reported here (on fchat) in various threads.

The F8/F8Spider, no more allocations, 812SF(out over a year ago), 812GTS, no more allocations.

Those would seem to be the 'end' of the regular model non-hybrid V8 and V12 models other than the Roma and PortofinoM (both V8s).

It seems the only V8 regular model remaining is the SF90 (hybrid and its allocations are almost done).

What's next? Seems only hybrids though the Icona line (which are not regular models, just like the 812C and 812CA) apparently will be non-hybrid V12.

"rumor" says the eventual 812 successor (in 2024) will not be hybrid, but, will probably be more a true GT car with less power, there is hope for a rear-engine V12, but seems it will continue to be reserved for the hypercars (though the next one there may introduce a turbocharged V12+hybrid)

And the FUV, wide range of rumors on its powerplant, but it is no sports car, should be announced within the next year.

The general drift for Ferrari is to hybrid on everything and eventually (2025?) full EV (about the same time Lamborghini is indicating it will have a full EV sports car...)

I would not worry about it, all of these cars will be available as used, and used usually means sat in the garage, and when they are used, may as well be an 85 year old woman behind the wheel !!! lol So like I said, its no big deal. Ferrari can do whatever they want, at this point in time, it really does not matter one bit, its that simple.

    Thank you,

It wasn't a snap, necessarily. The dealers had warning 6-8 weeks ago that the books were closing soon.

It was retroactive though, the message was on Monday and the books were closed before Monday.

Two V8TT still available for years, likely the next 3-4 years:
    1. Roma
    2. Portofino M

Other than those two you can only order
    1. 296GTB
    2. SF90
    3. SF90 Spider
PS: the same email said SF90 coupe book is closing soon, and may close without warning.

Ferrari are forced to limit ICE engines, as every other car manufacture.

You should worry about the future possibility to drive around in a car with an ICE motor, with the current "green wave" in mind.
Several countries have already announced that they want to forbid fossil fuels in a very near future and limit/forbid the possibility to use ICE cars in cities.
Fuel prices are up due to green taxes, in Europe about 3 times of the fuel price in US. (~$9-10 /gallon)
It will probably go up even more, with more green taxes.

My stand on this is: Use your Ferrari, while it's still possible and legal. Make memories. Stop worry about mileage.
Soon it will just be a thing that you have in your garage to look at, pretty worthless, because you're not allowed to drive it.

(My HOPE is that it won't go that far, but the current political "green wave" is accelerating in that direction).

    Some speculations here :
Only two engines in future Ferrari range.
-New hybrid downzised V12 ( 812 SF replacement, Purosangue , Laferrari replacement, SF 90 replacement ?)
-New hybrid V6 (296gtb, portofino, Roma etc..)
Which means no more V8 in a near future ?

Actually, it is forbidding the use of ANY cars in cities, not just ICE, but complete removal of privately owned transport within (European) cities...

    https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20210916-will-this-european-capital-ban-cars

    https://www.hotcars.com/heres-why-residents-want-to-ban-ice-and-evs-from-the-german-capital/
More than 50,000 Berlin residents have signed a citizen’s initiative that proposes a ban on all private cars.
Berliners don’t want cars anymore, and so residents are proposing to ban ICE and even EVs from the German capital. It sounds strange and a bit too fantastic, coming from the land of the Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen amongst others, but Berliners feel they are choking. And so is their city.

And the only solution they see is to ban vehicles and make a part of Berlin vehicle-free. And even EVs have not been spared the wrath of people who want clean air, even though EVs do not have any tailpipe emissions. Is a ban like this truly possible? Will the government and authorities allow for it? And if it truly happens, will set a precedent for the future of other cities choking on polluted air with residents leaving carbon footprints the size of Africa?

    How absurd.

Sad day when one cannot buy a new V12 Ferrari.

Makes perfectly sense to me. I had the same thought a few days ago. It seems the V6 architecture has a lot of performance potential to leverage in future. Also the turbo charging and GPFs didn't do a favor to the V8 when it comes to sound. So I guess looking at the circumstances it is not a great loss to get rid of the V8 in the range. Having said this, the V12 is here to stay, there is no way around.

Just imagine what could be done if Ferrari could ever build a 3 liter v12. It might even become a classic.
Stick it in a modded Alfa 4C carbon chassis and get rid of a bunch of pumps/rams/solenoids for a manual shifter for weight, and it would probably sell pretty well.

Well V8 is in the SF90/Roma/Portofino, that's got a long-run schedule. V12 will be around for some time too since the Italian government is trying to get an exemption for Eurozone. Don't worry, we have a lot of time left.

812SF (already some time ago), 812GTS and F8 are models to be discontinued. But not the V8 and V12 engines, that will stay on Portofino, Roma, SF90 Stradale, 812 Competizione, new Icona and so on.

All hybrid in the next models, like SF90 and 296.

No worries about the possibility to drive them: it will be allowed, of course. We can even drive now 50+ years old cars (with a special permission not to difficult to have, al least here in Italy) as theye are registerd as "historic car", means with historical value.

Gasoline price will go up, but we will continue to drive our roaring Ferrari: no doubt about it.

    ciao
