This is for a 360. I've been researching around for my throttle limp mode (20% limitation) problem for a while. Initially I've been replacing throttle bodies, pedal potentiometers, I even adjusted the pedal travel to 0.65-0.85v as per service manual. I also replaced ignition ECUs. They don't cure the problem, the 20% throttle limitation came every time after I started the car and drove about a few miles.

Aldous Voicy from England said it's the harness connector behind the passenger seat. There are a few connectors there, all on the same harness. I disconnected the connectors, re-connected them, and guess what, the problem went away , but only for 2000 miles. Obviously, 2000 miles is better than every drive.

That pretty much pinpoints the problem to the harness, especially the connectors.

I wonder what could be the failure mode? Is it something like a real bad connection? Or chemical deposit that increases the resistance of a critical wire in said harness.

Does any one know which connector, or specifically, which pin on which connector? Is replacing the harness the only way to go? In that case, there are 2 harnesses on 2 sides of the connection.

You probably disconnected plug 6G/11G behind the right hand seat.

The wiring from the pedal potentiometer (13D) goes to plug 12D/19D, then to plug 6G/11G and then to the RH Motronic ECU (plug 1L) in the engine bay.

An overview of the wiring can be seen in this diagram:

See the mid, right hand side of the diagram to find 13D, then work downwards. Use the colour coding to match up the wiring at each end of the harness.

Sorry, I don't know if you have a spider or coupe.

This diagram shows the pin numbering of the 11G side of the plug (in red) as seen from the wire side (not the metal contact side).

Pins 11~16 are the pedal potentiometer pins.
11G is the ECU side of the plug.

Most likely corrosion developing from moisture/stuff in the atmosphere at the physical contacts of the terminals -- do you live (or did the car live) in a fairly humid location for a long time and/or be in long-term storage stints where condensation was possible with day-night temperature cycles?

When 100 years old, these "electrified" cars are going to be a lot worse to deal with than a 100 year old Packard ;).

Yes, that's trouble. Hard enough for something metal to survive for decades in an oxygen rich atmosphere -- add some water = big trouble. Maybe using something like DeoxIT contact spray cleaner and then possibly some Stabilant 22a contact enhancer might extend your service interval. I do think civilization often overdoes "electrification" for really no good reason ;).

Hi Qavion, I was trying to download the dropbox files on your other thread but they all expired.
Can you still share the throttle body wiring diagram? I think it is the cables with "S"
