Congrats to Mad Max for keeping it all under control. What a WDC drive!

Now I need a couple of weeks to let my finger nails grow back.

They got it wrong too many times this year tbh.
If Max wins it: it’s well deserved & let’s not forget Baku. Max could be up 30mpints

They're reacting to RB. Wasn't a bad strategy but they waited too long. Max can drive.

1 point for FL versus 25 for a win. Easy to do FL with 8 laps younger tires and best or second best car.

As noted already, with the huge car advantage Merc had having evaporated they can’t just show up and drive anymore. Puts into perspective how HAM accumulated all those poles, wins and titles.

Next challenge for Merc will be another engine change and maybe a DNF.

I agree. I think Red Bull has been the better team the entire season. They’ve kept Merc on the back foot all season. Merc has won only 1 race since Silverstone. Surprised it’s as close as it is (and, yes, I know why)

It seems like the Ferrari drivers don't get much of any love even when they run an outstanding race. If Carlos didnt have such a bad stop he probably would have been up at least one more place.

They should have undercutted RB just like RB did to them, but no they prefer to give up track position for better tyres on a car that is terrible at following other cars.

Shaq crowding the podium during the national anthems was a disgrace. Totally out of place for him to be there at that time.

Didn't MB delay their 2nd pit a bit? Max wasn't pushing at the beginning of the 2nd stint.

yes, they did. He had a great out lap, then backed off a bit. As Wassa85 said, they were counting on making a pass with a car that has been bad as a trailing car this season

Max used the strategy he was given to perfection, get track position early, stretch the lead, maintain distance to Hamilton, go easy on the tyres for the second set of hards to save some grip for the final 8 laps of pressure.

    Smart driving Max

  21. Fantastic race.

I understand the "simple think" of what your saying but have to disagree with "deeper thought" rationale. It's still up to the drivers "on the track" to make the strategies work by using the tires in the strategy work. If the rules were what they are now, those drivers you refer to would have been up to the task and would have been making it happen all the same......
It's just part of the sport, just as the designers, fabricators, crews, and everyone else on the teams make F1 the pinnacle of auto racing. The very best achieving (or not) by their superior performance. :)

But it’s always the same convo though…
Hamilton won in 08 without the best car so he proved what he could do.
What did Michael do in 05 and 06? Not much yet we all know how great he is , greater than Hamilton for sure.
It’s more often than none the best car that wins that’s why we had useless champions like hill, button, maybe even hakkinen too. We all knew watching MS was the fastest already back then.
On speed alone Hamilton has not been worthy of likely 3 out of his 7 titles so I agree with you.

They're too happy and passive during the post race interviews. Toto's talking about it being good fun and enjoying racing even though they didn't win.

    Weird.

You go for track position every time FFS!

Verstappen was way faster in the first stint yet he couldn't get close enough to make a move.

Mercedes had the opportunity to get the undercut yet RB had their pants down yet again.

Hamilton hasn't been his best this season but Mercedes have been terrible with strategy, I hope RB beat them to the constructors title then it might make them do something about it!

Vowles is abysmal, he gets it wrong way more often than he gets it right.

At least make Verstappen pass for the win FFS, I'm pissed today!
