If Lewis had an extra 2 laps..he would have caught Max. IMHO Lewis should have started his attack with 6 remaining. He was at one point .9 behind Max..with a charged DRS. But hindsight is always 20/20. Max pitting so early was a massive risk. It was only his talent that allowed him to finish first.

Correct and I would be ok with it. :) I do not get offended by truths that now weak ("woke"?) try to pass as being offensive. That is why I say that, currently, there are more pu#$es than vaginas in this world. ;)

And see-through thongs in Brazil! I assume there is a race there this year. ;)

I thought teams stopped when they disbanded. What do I know, eh?
Where is it written that "then it should be 100% driver"? It's been about the drivers AND the teams since 1958, in case you weren't aware.
It isn't arbitrary excitement when everybody's got to race by the same rules. Yes, racing at the speed necessary to win has always been part of the sport of auto racing...I don't know how long you've been following, but I have been both following, participating, and following racing going on 7 decades now. Preserving equipment, which/what ever is paramount.
The very best in all categories of auto racing use strategy as part of their performance. (for that matter I don't know of any sport that doesn't).

We'll just have to disagree. You apparently live in the want/should world, I, in the world that is. Variety; the spice of life. :)

WHAAAAA? Just because he’s a giant who makes F1 drivers look like Lilliputians?

Shaq is a high profile sports figure. I saw no problems with him being there.

the RB is a better car. I don’t doubt the presence of Newey helped them to get their swagger back today. They dictated the race, even with Hamilton’s fantastic start.

I agree. Both played the hand that suited each best. Merc did NOT have a pace advantage over Max. Once he did the undercut, they needed a strategy that would give Lewis an advantage to counter with. If not for Perez’ forcing LH to pit, it could have worked.

I saw two brilliant drivers who diced at the start fairly, and kept everyone glued to their seats until the final corner. By comparison, Checo was 42 seconds behind them.

great race. Hats off to Max!

What's your take on why Max didn't try to pass LH during the 1s stint? Don't recall the lap nr when the radio was broadcast but RB's lax response sounded like they had already chosen another strategy.

Checo apparently had 'die in rio" pre race and no drinks during. As Button said: Props to him for finishing where he did. ;)

if you have more pace than the guy in front, the undercut is far less risky than trying to pass a guy you’ve tangled with a few times this season.

Checo’s 2nd stint was in used mediums, so probably suffered poor performance at the end of that stint.

He had set fastest lap after his second stop and before HAM beat him with his new set.

Lewis Hamilton Uncut Team Radio P2 in USA F1 Race GP Austin 2021 - YouTube

    Full radio.

After Max's stop, Lewis claims the tyres are good, then 1 transmission later says ''only one thing we can do with these tyres'', presumably indicating that the tyres are still good as Bono says ''copy, target +1''. After Perez' stop they box him immediately.

Take a shot each time Bono says ''so''.

Also, all this info the teams have regarding traction data and updating their drivers on the state of that. Too much. IMO radio traffic should go back to 1 way only, teams can only talk back in emergency situations (advice on traffic about to lap, incidents and engine/component total failures).

Those "used" mediums had only 1 lap on them as per the commentary.

Set used in Q2, yes, but still he missed the peak performance of a brand new set and they were obviously not as durable as the hards everyone else was using.
